Haaa, I was waiting for this pathetic excuse of a comment.
No, it wasn't our cup final. It was a league game for us as well.
If you want to console yourself, go and ask your mum for a hug.

Your players prepared for it like a cup final and the fans celebrated it like they'd won a cup final.

No, our players prepared for a tough match against tough opposition. We celebrated as any set of supporters who expected to lose, but instead kicked the opposition's backsides all the way back to Merseyside, would.
Of course it helps that it's you we beat. Both teams are always delighted to get one over the other. You would have done the same 10 years ago. In fact I dare say that most of your fellow supporters did.

Like I said, we did.
And like my thread said, is was refreshing to see how much it meant to Wigan fans. All those Saints fans commenting on how they celebrated like it was a cup final obviously never felt like beating Wigan was winning a cup final. I think you will accept that if you hadn't had the glory of 15/20 years ago, it would be as good as a cup final to beat a successful Saints side.

| It was the worse St Helens performance I have ever seen. I was wondering I as going to see St Helens niled at one point.
One other thing, did Saints lose a centre to injury?, because I couldnt work out why from the mid point of the 1st half, Wellens went to Centre and Eastmond went to fullback?.

I think we pushed Gilly into the second row to try and help stem the flow, it failed.

| for the second time is as many weeks our pack has been not bullied but certainly dominated, i dont think there has been a lack of effort on anyones part to be fair, i just think because we're being dominated in the forwards its leading to long pryce etc panicing somewhat leading to the wrong decisions being made ending up with being caught in possession on the last,
however they are not excuses they are imo what has happened, why our senior players like long and pryce haven't been standing up and using that experience we talk about to get us out of these situations is another question and if we all knew the answer to that question we would be getting paid alot of money for provididng the solution.
as for the comment regarding lack of effort, i dont think thats the case at all as those who have played or are playing know if you go onto a pitch and show no effort you get hurt so this for me is absolute rubbish. all teams even champions have mid season lul's if you think of the premiership it normally happens to teams around crimbo, hopefully this is our lul, and its coming at the right time so we can forge a great run towards the business end

In defence of Pryce I thought he was one of the few that played well and didn't go hiding as he has done in the past. Not condoning what he did but given all the problems that have been hanging over him this past couple of months I think he has given a lot to the team effort.

| i think the team as a whole played badly due to a number of things, pryce handled his situation well (like i said originally i question no ones effort on a pitch) but it just wasnt saints day, 1-17 were poor decision making with ball in hand a particular factor

| i agree with some of the comments from the original poster.
i thought it was a disgraceful performance t.b.h! apart from graham and wello(who always play their heart out i.m.o) the rest were awful! they did'nt look @r$ed to be there, they were 2nd best in every facet of the game against a not verygood wigan side. not to mention our most "bitter" rivals! it did'nt matter where it was played it was a league game for 2 points and more importantly it was a game against wigan r.l.f.c and if you cant get up for those two reasons then they should'nt be selected. it was like the bad old days when we were mullered by them virtually every time we played them! regards the game on saturday. if you have any negative thoughts before the game then it will stay in your subconcious mind and it will show in your performance and that was clearly the case i.m.o those players need to watch that game to realise how awful they was! we praise them to the hilt when they perform and win games/trophy's and we should be able to "bag" them when they play with no pride or passion for the shirt against our biggest rivals!!

| If the stadium had the roof closed we would have won that game easily. RFL made the wrong call leaving the roof open, we asked for it to be shut, they didnt listen and it burnt us.
