Exactly right, which is why Saints and Wigan have kept Pryce and Feka on respectively and Wire took the chance to dump the injury prone underachieving Reardon.

| if anyone thinks that had Leon been a fringe player or a reservist he would have got the same 'punishment' then they are deluded.
clear case of double standards and only wanting to do a token gesture re punishment of a key player

I agree, from what i have read i think people are blowing it way out of proportion and the right punishment has been given - only for the reason of bringing bad publicity to the game/your club.

We didnt chicken out of sacking Ian Milward our most successfull coach.
Wigan of course had no such qualms about then immediately recruiting a disgraced coach.
The club appear to have followed standard disciplinary procedures re Pryce has been given a formal warning re his behaviour.
This is not a let off as some people may think. Pryce now knows he has to be squeaky clean in how he behaves at the club.
Certainly i would expect any professionally run club such as Saints to follow employment guidelines re internal disciplinary matters. Otherwise they could find themselves at the wrong end of the law and facing a civil suit for unfair dismissal.

| Quote: gateaux "Where have they said they don't think its important?
To be fair to the board they know the facts of the case, they know exactly what happened which is something nobody on here knows.
Just like last week people were assuming because he hadn't got a custodial sentence he had "got away with it" they are assuming the exact same now. Some people wouldn't have been happy unless the club sacked him - and for most its nothing to do with what has happened but to do with a dislike of the player.'"
Are the full facts as per every other trial not open to the public domain and thus any one wanting to know the facts can have them to hand?He has pleaded guilty hasnt he.
I am disappointed in Saints though thought that they would have made a stance. This seems to me to put the message out that if you are a star player there is always a way that the club could accomade you.

100% correct and i would be very suprised in the world of pro sport if you would see much different from 99% of clubs!
though the nrl which has the highest profile and highest standard of our sport is trying to clean the game up as clubs and a governing body! cronulla just sacked its captain and the raiders sacked its best player in carney.
i would like super league to follow suit!!
i think what i would like to see is a 2 strikes and your out system. first strike suspended from the rest of the season that you have brought the game into disripute and second strike banned for life.
lets see if the likes of bailey, walker, feka, pryce, raynor, readon, cunningham, cockayne and the rest dare not be well behaved then.

| Does anyone even know the extent of the assault? Read somewhere that the woman in question got three bruises on her arm, and her new partner was pushed and fell over/banged his head.
I'm leaning to think that this has been blown waaayyyy out of proportion going off what has been mentioned in press reports and so forth. I realise that relying on press reports is hardly ideal, but if the woman had taken a good thumping/kicking, we'd surely know about it.
Not condoning any sort of non-reciprical violence, naturally, but until someone knows the true extent of said assault, i don't see how the club's punishment can be regarded as inadequate.

the first judge who found them guilty said he was thinking jail time? so there must of been something quite unsavoury in the evidance.
as ive said lucky for pryce and readon they got a change of judge fopr the sentancing? not sure why the judge was changed? maybe the first one was too drunk lol

Never liked Kevin Costner, or any other Robbing Hood!!!!: |
|
| the courts have issued their sentence and so have the club.
RE MIllward. what he did was done at a moment when he was acting in the capacity of an employee of the club. he was not subject to criminal charges but was subject to internal discipline. He was effectively abusing his position.
Leon is a different issue. Lets be clear, as a Bradfordian whose recently deceased friend was glassed by Leon, I have no time whatsoever for him as a person, but he is an incredible footballer. He needs to focus on that aspect of his life and now live it out on the back rather than front pages of newspapers.
From what our local paper reported, it sounds like he was daft to get involved, but the other guy came at him witha rounders bat. He should not have been in that position, but how many of us would have done the same?
He is embarrassed by it all and rightly so. He should issue an apology to the fans of your club, as he has slightly sullied your image, but in my opinion nowhere near as much as Long and Gleeson did a few years back.
He will get stick from away fans like on Friday, and in a way that will be a punishment. I hope that we will stop talking about Leon Pryce the thug and spend more time talking and reading about Leon the great rugby player ( except when he is playing against the BUlls).

No he didn't. Reardon did, or are you suggesting he should pay for someone else's crime?
