Dixon will probably also get a run out
Lances hit on TomPkins near the end was stupid and will kop him a ban.
I would also say that Josh Jones has aquitted himself well in the two games he has played. So far he has been offering more than Shenton, who i am becoming increasingly sceptical about.'"
Josh jones has done very well and against the two best sides in the comp. he's big, strong and has good balance.
On the subject of shenton, he don't look right to me since his injury. Maybe its just getting over it which will take time but he looks pretty dire.

Yeah. Shenton is looking like a mediocre buy. Although, I will say he's being given very little to work with by the halves.
Jones looks like a physical force. But power isn't something we lack. The problem is a fundamental shortage of skill.

| Don,t think the injuries will effect us too much, glad Wellens is back for the next game, we seem to be missing a leader again today. Obviously Lomax effected our game plan that's if we had one, but Gaskell has got the incentive now to get a good run of games together.
Like the look of Josh Jones looks like a raw Jack Reed, more games for him will benefit his game.
Our kicking options were rubbish today, that needs sorting out for Monday.

Our kicking was shocking last week as well.

| Impressed with Josh Jones today, some real good youth coming through the ranks at saints. For sake of the international game Wigan, Saints and Leeds are producing some real talent and making super league exciting. Long may it continue

| I thought Jones was one of Saints better players today, but Wigan were far more enthusiastic and together as a team.

| I may be wrong here but what ever happened to respecting the opposition when in their half of the field and taking a simple two points when a penalty is awarded ?
I am making a case for the return of Jamie Foster to earn his corn provided he is used for what he is good at...
Regards,
Jock

| I don't wish to condone Wigan's victory but the Saints were poor today.
FFS (Saints Team) Please loose the shimmy/stutter/ dance and the hesitation when delivering a pass from the play of the ball and the rest will follow.....
Time and youth is on our side forget this one and move on.....
Regards
Jock,,,,
PS , I have one question, " How come our smallest chap on the field constantly gets 'pinged' for high tackles ?
For example : Lance Hohoia's tackle on Sam Tompkins late in the Derby yesterday would have been round his waist if the gangaly Knob head had been stood up straight.

It was silly!
Gung-ho types will argue about pressing for a try, but that's a maybe 4 or 6 points, the two points were a given almost.
So then it would have been 12-12 with Saints on top and getting the ball back as well.
And the seesaw could well have tipped Saints way.
But as we saw Wigan got a converted try pretty much straight away and that 8 points difference looked like a mountain to climb. Consequently Wigan were buoyed and went on to win easily.
A shame really, I thought Saints might have beaten the pies.

| I was surprised Saints didn't take the kick and level at 12-12. Wigan had been dominant up to that point and leveling the scores would have boosted Saints confidence and dented Wigan's. I don't always agree with taking the two but on that occasion I think it was arguably the right choice.

The mission of the new coaching staff appears to be to do everything opposite to what Royce Simmons did. Taking the two was interpreted as a 'negative tactic' (see discussions on here in recent times) and has not been considered an option regardless of tactical advantage. However, from what Mike Rush said in his brief post match comments, it is likely that Saints will be taking the two more often in future.
