Staying at Celtic

Lets hope he doesn't come back. Worst 'next best thing' we have ever produced

I hope he does really well and proves the knockers wrong.

He hasn't got it in him. He was poor in the Championship.

No he wasent. He was far from poor. made more of an impact than Chris Dean and he is 3 years younger.

Also been one of the best performers in the Celtic backline the last few months, after breaking into the team.

He was garbage at Widnes when I saw them on Sky. I've not seen him at Celtic.

Would you have him back at Saints?

No i wouldent because we have decent youngsters comming thru. However i wouldent call the lad poor. Had some bad games for Saints did Ste. Jonny Lomax is currently having a couple of shockers (at the same age Ste was) Yet Lomax will be a GB international.

Fair enough. That's a big call on Lomax too. Where do you see him succeeding? Fullback or halfback?

Wish him all the best - would be great to see him kick on and become a top centre.

Think he was put under ridiculous pressure by Saints fans to be the finished article at an early age then ridiculed when he wasn't.

A very respected Widnes supporter friend of mine told us before this season that he had been impressed with Dean but Smith and, especially, Tyrer, had been hugely disappointing.

I was wondering about Ste Tyrer. He is a good player in attack and dreadful in defence. Hopefully, for his sake, he has improved at Celtic.

I just hope he has a successful career at Saints or elsewhere.

I really rate Tyrer highly and hope we can bag him for next season!

His first stint with us he was fantastic and showed some reall class (can tell had been working with Gidley) but his 2nd spell he wasn't match fit and got injured before he had chance too get sorted!

Widnes fans who said he was poor are just thick! Steve Pickersgill started off exactly the same but as he kept playing eh got fit and much better and his signing was heralded!

Dean didn't do alot until he was moved into the 2nd row... when Tyrer signed!

I'd loved to have Ste back at Widnes and tbh those who said he was poor are purely judging on the clouded 2/3 game he had this season after only playing one for Celtic before hand! He still has alot to offer but a lot of pressure at Saints and the lad needs a year or two of 1st team rugby to develop!
