I was impressed by his contribution tonight; Turner did ok too, but you can see his potential.

Was going to say that Manu was back on form tonight. Maybe everything has been sorted and his heads back in the game. I agree 3 years for Manu seams a little excessive. But if two years was ok, then only one of those years is a gamble. In the end if he can't play he can retire and we can sign someone else. Warrington did that to bring in the dog man and that was with a player who was not injured.

I would say to get the best from Manu we need a bit of a mind set change in that we need people to be aware of the offload and in place. There were a few times where he was stood ready to offload and had no runners coming through so the ball went to ground. But if Roby is awake with his running style he could really rack up the points getting the offload late in the tackle. Roby will probably be the closest being at dummy half. It is true our pack has a heavy contigent of aged overseas players, but then there are equal amounts of middle aged players and then underneath that a full pack of youth.

1st choice Pack
Perry +30
Roby -30
La Franki +30
Sia - 30
Manu + 30
Puletua +30

subs
LMS -30
Clough -30
Wilkin -30
Flanaghan -30

Then we have beneath that we have our youth set up.
Magennis; Carl Forester; Joe Greenwood; Scott Hale; Andrew Dixon; Anthony Walker; Jordan Hand;

They all have varying game time so some should be expecting to hit the first team proper in the next year, others are a couple of years further from full first grade. If they make it then they will replace the likes of Puletua and Perry when their contracts are up. If not then we will have to go shopping and let the next set of youth get in training.

Is that the same senior citizen that teaches the overpaid yet distinctly average Micheal Shenton a lesson in centre play, each and overtime they meet?

Quote: St pete "Looks like pat Richards re-signing has backfired. He's injured more than Gary wheeler and I'm sure you don't want to know how much of your cap the cripple it taking up
And yet even as an injury ridden cripple, he's a far better winger than anything the Saints side currently field.

He would know that if you add all those players ages together at the start of next season the average would be 30+

Wigan fans are obsessed with young players that it's becoming slightly worrying.

It's great if you can have a team full of homegrown but if we was to win things with a team if over 30s then I don't care.

It's not about who plays the youngest players, it's about who wins rugby games.

The fact we've had swift, makinson, wheeler, jones, Gaskell, lomax, clough, greenwood, Forster, foster, flanaghan, Magennis all young lads should have the Wigan fans jizzing in their pants.

That's clearly obvious icon_wink.gif

Funny thing is, wigan for the past 20 years have the biggest reputation for binning young lads in favour for older overseas players.
