| Quote: steve "What has the Grand Final to do with the performance of Danny Maguire in an international game against Australia? Thats right -absolutely nothing.
For what its worth, part of the problem as far as i could tell, which caused England major problems in the first half, came from the fact there were 2 stand offs and both were playing stand off. Tomkins appeared to place himself in the same position he plays at Wigan during the first half, and that of course had a knock on effect on Maguire. It was undoubtedly inexperience on Tomkins behalf, although there can be no doubt that Tomkins improved in the 2nd half, whereas Maguire just seemed to go from bad to worse.
Its amazing how "bitter" all Saints fans are supposed to be, and yet the Leeds fans try to convince themselves that the 'cheering' when Maguire came off is because of a player returning and not Maguire going off. At the end of the day, Danny Maguire may have played brilliantly in the Grand Final, but it counts for nothing after his performance in an England shirt against Australia. The same has been said about Sean Long for years.
Different players, different coach, different scapegoat, same result.
'"
That's very bitter.
For bitter, see 'true'.

| Quote: Father Ted "Disagree with Eastmond at centre.
He should be 7 with Tomkins at 6.
The Kiwis have some really big lads at centre and Eastmond is a tad small.
I do think him and Tomkins could cause the big Kiwi forwards real problems. If the Kiwis rush up they'll both kick behind them.
If the Kiwis stay back they'll both attack their defence line with ball in hand.
IMO Tomkins at 6 and Eastmond at 7 is a must.'"
I'm a Leeds fan but i have to agree with this. Bigger worry is centres...just who have we got ?? Smith is a good full back (or winger) and should start at full back but never as an international centre. Shenton is simply not good enough. Bring back Keef !

| Quote: Billinge_Lump "Eastmond coming on changed our game going forward. He gave us a bit more of a spark in attack, was solid defensively and his introduction gave Tomkins a bit more space on the other side. We also got a couple of decent kicks after he came on.
Sinfield again showed that he isn't an International 13, though he did a better job at 9 than Roby did and gave us a bit more direction. Even though I've argued against this with certain Wigan based posters, Im starting to come round to the idea until we get a couple of decent hookers (Moore still has the potential to become a very good hooker IMO).
McGuire again showed that he lacks at this level, when asked to take more responsibility on, his game takes a backward step. And before Leeds fans start whining about club bias, Pryce is exactly the same. I think he may do a decent job at full back though, he's faster and a more creative than Briscoe who looked like he always does, like a second rate Radlinski.'"
Have to agree with this... profundity

| Some of the Leeds lot are so funny. They are getting their knickers in a twist because one of their precious Champions turns out to be a dud at international level. Bless.

So you still believe that playing two stand offs in the halves against Australia is a good idea?
I said it a week ago and the justification was there for all to see, it's a headless chicken combination.

Myler on the bench is a waste, he can't play any other position other than scrum half.

Agreed. I would go with Sinfield at hooker and Roby on the bench, we'll need a big pack against NZ.

| 6 Tomkins
7-Eastmond
9-Sinfield
13-Roby
Is how i'd line up with Chris Bridge taking a place on the bench as a utility.

McGuire was terrible. You cannot reward that kind of performance with a shirt for the next game.

Sinfield was better at 9 than 13. McGuire wasn't that good in the semi final of the world cup either.
Billy Slater made one mistake in a career of good performances at International level. The exact opposite of McGuire really, I can't see why you're using him as a comparison.

How is Danny anyway, Mrs. McGuire? You pack his vest for him? Getting nippy out.
