| Quote: SaintsFan "I would have preferred an experienced coach who has won stuff as our next coach as I think that would have taken this group of players to the next level IMO. Preferably one who knew how to coach an open style of attacking rugby.
It's alright the club going on about its culture but if the only people they are going to recruit are former Saints players the club could become increasingly insular. Every place needs freshening up now and again. No doubt once Cunningham moves on it'll be Wello's turn to coach the team!
I have my reservations but just as with other coaches I'll give him my full backing for the first season. After that, well, he's just another coach and that he has played for us before won't matter one iota if I have to pay to watch 40 point drubbings!'"
Did you go to Catalans?

| I think this year was a freak year. I seriously doubt next season's league leaders will drop as many points as we did.
I guess he will be judged on results/trophies. At what point would fans class his reign as success or failure? Will people be more lenient because of his staus as a saints legend? What does success look like for KC? One trophy? two?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! KC is hardly a pin up boy. Seriously though I hope he does well but not too well! The trend of having English coaches at our top clubs is very welcome. However you may need to be patient with him and not expect instant success. It will be interesting too see how much he has learnt his coaching trade under Brown. That is my slight concern because I don't rate Brown as a coach. He was not good for Saints despite winning trophies in 2014. Huddersfield were better after he left and so maybe the same will happen at Saints?

| I can see the similar scenario of when Anderson took over the giants from Brown, the advantage with KC is that he has done a coaching apprenticeship, knows the workings of the club, is accustomed to pressure situations. If he has to rebuild the team that might be different but it looks as though he has a good environment around him with decent players, assistant coaches and respect from the executive and chairman,
Listing to the bbc interview it sounds as though he knows his own mind and his ambition was to be always coach of this club, all we can do is to give him our total backing to get him "up and running"

That reminds me when are we going to have the first coach to be sacked thread?
I can't see him lasting past next year (Baloo that is).

We played some of the dullest rugby ever under Mike Rush/Keiron Cunningham in 2012 (and it was apparently mostly Cunningham, according to Rush). If that's what we have to look forward to this time around then the speccies will all be snoring by halftime!

Er, what?
So Keiron reads the forums does he? He takes his inspiration from the fans does he? Well, if he does either or both of these then he's screwed as a coach before he even starts!

| Looks like Saints Fan is getting her jabs in early this time.
no one will do until Royce returns.
As for the GB coach, well done. But anyone can be GB coach. Even a reserve coach in Austrailia, who can't get a job in SL.
But yes he coached GB, but that was 3 games. I'm pretty sure he was not a club coach before Saints and not even sure if he was an assistant anywhere???
Point being every coach has to start somewhere.
The only sad thing about becoming head coach is that you effectively accept it's the beginning of the end of your ties with a club. As sooner or later all coaches move on. Success is fleeting and so are the fans and loyalties for a head coach. He may get 2 years. May get 5. But in the end it's a job with only one outcome.
