| Quote: SaintsFan "For a start off, drink driving is vile and perpetrators should not be given any degree of tolerance whatsoever. If he is guilty of it then I would be very happy to see the back of him for at least a seriously long suspension, just to make it clear to him that putting other people's lives at risk in such a reckless way will not be tolerated by my club. But aside from the moral issue of drink driving and indeed the legal implications, from a team point of view it is not the sign of a good team player to be so irresponsible just before a match. We were a man down on Sunday because of his idiotic behaviour (irrespective of whether he is guilty of the drink driving bit - just by being out late and crashing cars made him thoughtless). He put pressure on his team mates some of whom were backing up and some playing with injury. For that alone he should be disciplined.'"
So I should be strung up because I fell asleep in my mates car, on a country lane near Egremont, with the keys in the dash? (24 years ago)
Shoot me now.....

| I don't drink and drive at all, that said there's a world of difference between someone who has 3/4 pints over 4 hours and drives home, and someone who is so drunk they drive into 3! cars, that's being completely drunk and getting behind the wheel and lucky not to kill anyone

Thank God we've moved on in those 24 years. Wasn't Jimmy Saville doing his seatbelt ads back then? People used to drink and drive freely back then. I remember being in a car with a lad who was absolutely out of his skull on alcohol. Being a teenager and not a driver meant I was clueless as to the impact drink had upon a driver. I can still remember that journey now, and still see the lad's face. I've no sympathy at all, if that is what Scott has done. IF.

Spot on. Hopefully the lad will get a 5 year contract on the back of this latest incident

Well if he was a Wiganer all he'd have to do is sniff a few lines before a game then a new long contract would be on it's way

Thanks for the advice, obviously a lot of thought and personel experience of being a supporter of a team that has had Long, Gleeson and Hock (amongst others) who not only transgressed,, but, were resigned (or tried to be) by the Pies.
Throwing stones in Whelans glasshouse springs to mind.

Nearly as mad as living in the metroploitan borough of St.Helens and supporting Wigan, now anyone that mad can't have an opinion worth listening to surely?

But if they were caught transgressing twice they were gonners. The first two you mentioned are prime examples. Hock has served his time, and has rightly been given a second chance, but if he steps out of line again it's goodbye.
There have been a few other given a second chance at Wigan but then "moved on"
I'm a great believer that anyone can make a mistake, and in most cases be given a second chance.

Given Wigan were handing Sean Long cash for him to re-sign (or to go on holiday as it turns out ), I wouldn't exactly call him a "prime example" of Wigan's strict "two strikes and out" approach . . . .

| Just like with Leon if the courts rule him out that is one thing, if the courts don't then it's more a tactical position for the club.
It's not moral or anything like that. The court will decide the moral of the case, the club need to do what is best for the club
