| We seemed to be going up the middle all game even after the cats player went off. From that moment on we should of spread the play but we seemed in incapable of doing so.

We play exactly the same way every week no matter who the opposition or what the conditions and our execution of even that boring, repetitive game plan is so poor it's just unbelievable. A great player does not automatically make a great coach or even a half decent one and having 'passion for the club' and 'knowing the systems' isn't anywhere near enough to make a half decent coach either. We were better than this last year with Brown in charge and I was no big fan of Brown.'"
I don't agree with the apocalypse view.
He did win the grand final with a load of oldies, kids and no half-backs.
Saints are very frustrating at the moment but I think all we have to do is cut out the penalties.
Walsh is finding his way back and I have some sympathy with view that Wilkin might be a better bet until the old Walsh is rediscovered. But injuries always make these kind of arguments irrelevant anyway.

Cunningham didn't win a Grand Final with no halfbacks. Brown did.
Walsh was just as anonymous in pressure games before his big injury. He couldn't tackle last season either and fought shy of taking on the line when at Penrith. Burns is Cunningham's recruit and has brought nothing but penalties to the side.
We need to do one heck of a lot more than cut out the penalties and that has been the story of our season.

I know he was only the 'assistant' but ...
Walsh does not have to carry the defence when he is dominating games in attack. However he is not at the moment in the slightest. Recovering from a serious injury is complicated.
Like most super league seasons Saints will just have to win the semi to go to Old Trafford. We have only lost a few more games then the Rhinos, though do you think even Wigan could stop them this year?

Agree with you and have done from day one also. However, be aware that's not a view that's readily accepted on here; largely (I suspect) due to people still judging him as a player rather than his capability as a coach. He's in way above his head and if, after that shambles this evening, people are incapable of seeing the one dimensional, predictable drudgery we are serving up then they never will.
No doubt we'll get the usual combination of apologists and Mugwump's after match dictionary eating sermon for this week telling us all to be positive and that we are actually doing ok.
The reality is, for people brave enough to just admit it, that we are crap. You want a benchmark - look at Leeds with their over aged team, compare them to us and then come back and tell us whether you still think we are a 'good side'.
This team is being coached (and I use the term loosely) to death.

Brown was excellent for us. The way he adapted his team with whatever was thrown at us shows what a good coach he is.
I personally thought this job come to early for kc and I tbonk thats showing. We play boring kick and chase and one up rugby. We have no set plays in our aresnal and our defence is dire. KC may well become a good coach but I feel he's learning his trade is killing us. I wanted a good experninced coach coming in KC learning few more years.
I'm also not happy with the "job for the boys" we have got. KC, longy, Ade, wello etc isn't doing us any good as none experninced coaches.
We look short of ideas big time.

| To draw the 2nd half against 12 men was terrible.
I'm an optimist, but I'm finding it frustrating that a coach and his side kicks who played their career in a team who's philosophy was to play brilliant, off the cuff rugby, have got their side playing the most boring rugby I have seen a Saints side play.
Even though we were champions in 99, I felt that side were quite boring to watch. Millward came in and you could see a dramatic difference in our style of play in just one game. He took the shackles off them. I wish Cunningham would have the courage to do the same.

That's my major worry. I heard it said (you know, from a mate's mum who knows someone's cat) that when he was appointed part of the rationale was that McManus wanted an in-house dynasty and was averse to ever appointing another overseas coach. I don't know how true that is.
However, in reality, we are stuck with KC this year. If next year is as bad then I don't think McManus is the sentimental type and we may indeed see a change. If I am right then roll on next year.

| They had a man sent off but it was still 16 v 16 as we didn't use Davies. Why put a guy on the bench if not going to play him? I can see the idea agsinst a team we are suppose to beat and give him a run out but why agsinst catalan in what we all knew was going to be close game ?
Why put Charnock on the bench or Fleming who have played super league instead of having a kid sat there helping nobody.
Surely KC didn't thibk we was going to put a good Score on the french!

We already have a tate of it as Burns is a Cunningham recruit. He told us about it before the season started.

| Cunningham is killing us. Its plain as day that its his tactics to play the way were and its just not good enough in fact its @ng dreadful and im sick of it.
Up against 12 men and still we refuse to shift it. Were handing out contracts willy nilly to absolute garbage like Dawson. Will spend my money on sonething more entertaining in future.

To all those people who critisized this team...tonight's for you.

| Daryl Powell went straight in at the deep end at Leeds and after being replaced by Tony Smith he dropped down to coach in the Championship. After taking over at Cas he has proved himself to be a fine coach after gaining experience without the spotlight and expectation that comes when coaching at SL level. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but maybe KC should have been given more time as assistant to experienced coaches at Saints (or he could have dropped down a division as head coach).
Still think the top 3 will be any combination of the current top 3. Saints will be in the semi final.
