| The way it is going Percy will have played more game time in his first season than Gazza has played in five. I don't know the answer with Wheeler perhaps he does not have the desire for the game that coupled with awful luck is not a good combination. However many players play with injuries of some degree it is how quickly they want to get back. He knows the standard is so poor someone will always take a punt on an ex Saints player. Turner is as good as anything we could sign in the English Comp

I don't know how you can question Wheelers commitment ? Anyone who saw the pictures of him in the changing room when he went off with his hamstring would know he was totally devastated!

| Quote St pete="St pete"Wheeler will never go for a pay as you play. He would get a deal at 50% of the super league clubs.'"
Not anymore, surely? His injury record is a massive problem, he's available for about 30% of the season. He wouldn't get a serious offer from any club at the moment unless he can prove his fitness.
He really needs to work hard to save his career. When he was in the side earlier this year, in a rare period of games without an injury, he was very out of shape.

| I think it's great news on both of them.
Although people struggle with the Turner decision at the end of the day he's as good as any English Centre that might be available in the near future. Besides that I think he's showed more going forward in recent weeks than Shenton did in two years and he's improving. Shenton was supposed to be the finished article!

I really fear we let him go and he spends a decade punishing us at another club.'"
I've mentioned his injury issues on another thread.
it doesn't help being put in thr U19's when 15 and being beat up all the time.

Do Wigan not promote players above their age group too?

| I think Wheeler has at least one more year anyway, so it's not too much of an issue really.
If Brown does not want Lance at 6, then that is a good sign. It may seam like a waste paying all the money for a bench player, but bench and sub hooker is the best we can offer.
When Makinson got back into the team, after being left out, he was taking the ball in with a lot more Ade type running. I think he had picked up on the fact that to get a game, it was going to take more than talent and speed and that the returning of the ball as a winger was vital to our go forward. I would not say he was at the same level as Ade, in terms of running into a brick wall for the cause. But there was certainly more umff about his returning the ball.
But it was a short week or 2, then Lomax got injured and he was moved to FB.
I think so long as he keeps improving that part of the game returning the ball, Makinson will be a fine winger.
In which case it's really only 6 and 5 that are up for grabs.
Wheeler may get one last shot at 6.

Which 15 year olds have played in the U19's?
Wigan have had quite a few 16 year olds play in their U19's this year.

if you're good enough, you're old enough. Scott Moore hit the first team at 16 and has had no significant injury issues, and that was as a pack player

He hit the first team as a halfback, a 7 iirc.
