| This is like those debates on "Are Man United the Greatest Team of the Premiership era".....cue the Arsenal fans saying no cos in 2003/04 we didn't lose a game, so Arsenal are the greatest.

| Quote McClennan="McClennan"Not really. We played had incredible defence that year and with Jamie Lyon on the ouside we were capable of winning every game. Our losses that year were by a grand total of ten points (16-19 at Hudds, 26-27 v Hull, 18-20 at Bulls and 22-26 at Catalans).'"
If you are looking at consistency over an individual season then it would have to be your guys team of 06. Irrespective of who you play in the finals and other teams having bad seasons, as a previous poster has stated, you have to beat what is in front of you and St Helens did that playing fast flowing rugby with players at their prime.
The salary cap system is now kicking in and it could be debated whether the standard has improved or declined going on how many games we are losing season on season.
Either way both were/are great sides

| Leeds for me ain't even the best team in Yarkshire, Bradford are in superleague
3 in a row is amazing but to say they are the best ever is laughable

| Whether they're the greatest 17 may be doubted, but they've won 3 GFs on the bounce which no one else has done. They won them when they've been top dogs and they've won them as underdogs. Fair bloody play, I reckon.
The game will ebb and flow and in a few years there'll be another team on top claiming that they're, in some way, should be counted as the greatest SL team - and Leeds, Saints and Bradford fans will probably all dismiss them as [inew money[/i.

They'll need to do something unique to claim it though.
sainst were the first team to win super league back to back
bradford were the first team to win grand final and cc double
leeds are the first team to win 3 grand finals on the trot

It's just such a difficult thing to judge, there are no set markers.
But saints, bradford and leeds have all achieved unique things in the super league era which mark them as great teams (of the past, in bradfords case).
It appears wigan are the ones lagging desperatly behing with their solitary super league title. A poor effort.

| Leeds' three triumphs is a unique achievement and they deserve credit for this consistency. It is no mean effort to back up three times because of the immense staying power that is needed.
I would suggest that the Saints side that defeated Brisbane was the best SL team I have seen for flair, and sheer quality on paper:
Sculthorpe, Newlove, Iro, Fairleigh, Long & Cunningham at their pomp, Sullivan and the guile of Martyn.

| I think this Leeds side is the best of the SL era personally. Even if they hadn't won they would have had a shout at that title.
It's so subjective though so everyone will have their own opinions but their will to win is extraordinary. At 8 - 0 down and barely being in the game some sides would have crumbled but they were so resolute and never really looked like losing once they got back in to it.
Fair play to them, they are very worthy champions.

Nah, they just waited until we made a boobie! Had they been 8-0 down with 10 to go and still battling on then I think that would have been the mark of a resolute side, but I don't think any team is resolute that has only 8 points on them in the first half! They're still just playing the game at that stage.

| As far as I'm concerned St's are the best team of the Super League era. On their day they are the best team in world rugby. And thats from a Hull FC fan!! But I'm afraid to say that I think your bubble may just have burst since Potter took over.
