| Quote Tuco="Tuco"Didn't Saints get Sport England funding due to letting them play at our ground though?'"
Yes, they did. But they let Town play at KR for free for a decade so perhaps not charging them was a condition of the Sport England money. However, the Sport England money may not be enough to cover the cost of opening the stadium to a competitive match, hence the alleged decision by Saints to refuse Town.
I'm very happy with Town not playing at Langtree Park. It's time the rugby club made a clean break. Town can find somewhere else to play. I'm sure there are plenty of available options for such a small entity.

| If Town can get enough people to cover the cost then let them play at the new stadium otherwise, there are loads of Parks around town big enough to cope with their support base at the moment.

| St Helens Town are at a level where they should be playing at an 18000 capacity stadium. 180 would be fine.
Perhaps Saints could arrange for a local pitch to be rented for them instead and put a basic club house/ticket office and stand in. I'm thinking a fence around a pitch with a carpark, plus a couple of portakabins here, nothing too elaborate.

Something about the size of LSH ground would do them.

Would you have the same opinion if any grants like Sports Council have to be repaid immediately, there most be ways of running the stadium less than £5,000 per game and the idea behind a lot of stadiums were the community gets involved is for it to be used as much as possible.

The stadium is already being involved in the community. The second St Helens 10K charity run is starting and ending at the stadium. I can't imagine Saints charging Ste Prescott for the privilege somehow.

| You'll get some problems with any new build. Disappointing I know but it'll be forgotten once you attend for the first time. As I've said before, LP will become the best purpose built RL stadium in the country. It looks great and I for one can't wait to visit.

You'd have thought so, and as a community stadium such funding issues should have been foreseen prior to the build.
This is not a new problem.

| perhaps if we give them the opportunity to play there it will give them a better profile and get better players then more will watch and they can pay their way. nothing wrong with another sport doing well in the town.

There is everything wrong with soccer doing well anywhere! We gave them ten years for free. If they can't build up adequate support in that time with no rental to pay then they aren't going to do it now. There are plenty of soccer clubs in the region. We're a rugby town. For me they can go and find somewhere else to play.
