| Quote: Saddened! "Slick was telling us in the week how good a coach he was. Hmmm. I watched that game tonight with a red face, out of embarassment at the shirt I had on. I counted all but 1 of their tries came from shocking errors from us. It was comical, we need two wingers and a fullback asap.
Apart from our truly shambolic showing we saw two of the most ridiculous video ref calls ever. Kyles no try was a stupid decision and you have to admit the Moore try was probably Gansons realisation of his earlier error, the ball didn't go anywhere near the ground. '"
That's mostly how the opposition score against us, all we usually do is make mistakes but when we don't we play a good game on rugby, and with the Video Ref decisions I agree with that, Kyles was a good try he didn't give but he gave Moores and it was nowhere near the ground, not to say in the lead up to one of your tries their was a offside and in another their was a knock on, but it was a good game for me, and thanks for the two points

Or any.
As for us yesterday.
Few things.
1. Communication or lack of it - Step forward Ade, as wello looked on in disgust a few times.
2. two young lads on one side - causing an obvious point of attack for salford.
3. Defence - shocking at times.
But as a few have mentioned, James Graham last night was superb and should be our next captain. He stood out from the front and his dedication for the team was second to none.

| I have to congratulate Salford on their excellent kicking game and enthusiasm in defence. They made everything difficult for us.
Nevertheless, that was an absolutely horrific performance by Saints. The decision to play Foster and Lomax together on the left side unfortunately led to a three try headstart for them. Fair enough - it was a gamble which backfired (and moving Moore out to defend in the centres didn't exactly solve the problem either). The more alarming thing was that, despite the calamitous start, the game was still there for the taking, but every single time we scored (and once after they scored) we immediately gifted them possession in our own 20. Off the top of my head I can think of a Fozzard penalty (in possession), a kick-off allowed to go dead, a Lomax knock on and us being offside at the kick off.
Without these farcical errors we would have won the match, despite our general lack of fluency and enthusiasm, but with them we just had too much to do.

Another classic:
You forgot to take off the "Saints Reduction Factor" when calculating the ban.
Standard suspension / Saints Reduction Factor = Actual ban for Saints player.
Therefore (2 / 3) = 0.666
0.666 < 1 therefore actual ban equals "less than 1 match".
Therefore ZERO.
| I'd still be more worried if I was a Warrington fan and the fact they can't beat any big teams! We just had a nightmare on the day. All will be good again soon!

| IMO we really missed Flannery on the left side. We seemed to be a man short all night and Salford exploited it well. Comedy of errors by Wello and Ade on more than one occasion. I doubt whether Matty Smith will play as well again. Can't see what waswrong with Kyle's second half try. Jammer was awesome. Froze to death in the second half due to Syddley's ears blocking out the sun!!!!!
Still reckon we'll be there or there abouts come September.

| Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.
Firstly losing Flannery in the lead up to the game crippled us defensively on the left hand side. No Soliola, no Wilkin, no Wheeler, no Dean and no Flannery to cover and that left us with three inexperienced kids in Dixon, Foster and Lomax covering the left channel. As soon as I saw the team sheet I had a really bad feeling we'd be conceding alot of points down that side and lo and behold most of Salford's tries came down that side, even when we tried to plug the gap with Moore.
Salford played well and with lots of enthusiasm. They deserved the victory as they led throughout.
But, we practically gifted them the game. Foster and Lomax just didn't work and thankfully Foster was spared his blushes by being brought off after a horror show. People went overboard when he kicked 8 from 8 against Leeds, but in reality he is out of his depth at SL level. He needs to go out on loan at some stage and gain some experience. His confidence will be shattered at the moment.
Everytime we got ourselves back into the game we made awful errors - Wellens from the kick off, Fozzard with the stupid forearm lead, Ade Gardner's brainfart's (seriously, what does this guy offer to the team?), Roby's knock on etc.
The only real positive from the game was James Graham once again, who stood up to be counted. The rest of them were eeither off their game or simply woeful.
No need to go overboard though, it was a terrible performance, as bad as we've been under Potter. It was basically the complete opposite to Hull KR where everything went for us and this week everything went against us.

I do agree that it didn't work, but he didn't look out of his depth against Leeds. He needs a season or two gaining experience on the wing, or with experienced players either side of him if he's at centre, though I still think he looks a touch light for there at the moment. Having him, Lomax and Dixon defending there was bound to be exploited by more experienced players, though they weren't helped by the fact that pretty much every other player on the pitch wearing a Saints jersey was also having a 'mare at the time.
Unless he's first or second reserve for the first team, I'd agree a spell on loan would probably do him the world of good.

| You can't expect to get away with fielding a large number of inexperienced players and not have them have the odd bag game. In many ways being hauled off will help Foster as it'll give him the reality check that all rookies need at some point in their development. If he has the right attitude (which he appears to) he'll learn from these mistakes and be eager to set them straight the next game he plays.
I half expected the Salford result. We've been having things a bit too easy of late and whilst the likes of Foster, Dixon and company will have picked up a lot of confidence against the likes of HKR, they can't afford to start thinking the rest of SL will roll over as sweetly.

Despite the horror showing from Foster and Lomax (Who was absolutely terrible) it wasn't them that cause us to lose that game. It was senior players, Wellens and Gardner who alone were responsible for at least 24 points that I can think of from the top of my head.
We had little problem containing Salford once Foster was removed from the centre spot. But every time the ball was kicked on the last it caused chaos. Most of them weren't even good kicks, just absolutely shambolic play from the international players.

| Gardner hasn't been worth his spot for some time now. His hands have always been a source of difficulties, but previously we've had the players to mop up the aftermath. With so many youngsters in the team his butterfingers are putting tremendous strain on the side. Which is something we can really do without. I also get the feeling that he thinks he's certain of his place in the first team. And THAT isn't helping us in any way.
