Is that what the league table looks like at the moment? I confess that I've been avoiding it lately!

| Quote: Webbo "Well said. The kick on Whitehead wasn't malicious - the ball was there to be hacked, then Whitehead was on it. Harsh to give an additional penalty.
His misjudgement to let Pryce score was obviously the result of knowing that if he caught it on the full, he'd almost certainly be bundled into touch. The ball could have bounced anywhere (looked most likely to go touchwards), but it popped right up into Pryce's hands. Sheer bad luck.
His sin-binning was undeserved.
'"
I have some sympathy for the guy tonight and there is an element of bad luck here, but in all 3 cases he actually made the wrong play.
- He should have been throwing his body at the ball/Whitehead, not his leg.
- He should have put his body between Pryce and the ball.
- Bizarre sin-binning, but equally he shouldn't have done it.

We beat Widnes, and that was when they had their rather good halfback playing too. Widnes had a raft of first choice players injured for that match against Wigan but they still won!
Nope. Not brave. We have won games this season you know! We're just having a bit of a crisis at the moment. Can't be Saints these days and not have a bit of a crisis.

It's not like Wigan put out a full first-choice side though, is it? And Saints aren't in a position to at the moment, either. Underestimating Widnes was arguably what brought Wigan down...

Aye - against London, and then Salford. And, TBF, the games you've lost have been close ones, on the scoreboard.

I wonder if great teams have to be cyclical - that it's not possible to be on top indefinitely. The decline of Wigan in the 90s after a successful period of around 10 years was accompanied by the rise of Bradford and Saints, who've had a successful period of... around 10 years. We've had Leeds overlapping with that - particularly as Bradford have declined - and now Warrington and Wigan are on the rise again. Maybe there's something about the structure of a club, maybe in the development of youth players and the timing of their introduction to the first team, that gets disrupted when you've got a successful, settled team, and a certain level of pressure and expectation of continued success from fans and the directors?

| The bigger issue is that Saints haven't won a trophy since Long, Sculthorpe and Cunningham were at the club. As great as Roby and Graham are, they never led you to the promised land. Saints are far too weak at those key positions. Lomax is good but will never be a Long, Roby isn't a patch on Cunningham and Wilkin hasn't taken the next step as the class, game breaking backrower that Scully was.

I thought its only us (wigan) who revert to the past
I must admit i'm loving this saints decline i just wish that i had the time to trawl through all the posts from previous years that ridiculed us and really shove them in your face. BTW whats it like being a mid table club? Thats one that i remember

| Foster isn't good enough. The effort is there but the quality isn't and his confidence is completely shot right now. He needs to go back in the reserves and build up his confidence again.

I think your choosing to forget we rested Sam, Paddy, Tommy, Farrell and Lockers which in the end proved costly.. but hey ho get over it - we already have.

| The poor Lad is even starting to miss kicks he made for fun last year. I've gone from getting on his back to just sympathising with him as everything he tries to do is just going wrong right now. He'll never be a world beater, but he can be as good as Ade and he's had a decent career but that relied on world class centres

Hows he going to achieve this when the other senior players arnt pulling their weight? With Saints not running away with games its more pressure on him kicking the goals, but he's so suspect in defence and his errors are shocking.
