Huddersfield do it but are boring with it, no flair in attack etc...
Wigan do it but can also play attractive rugby hence they are leading points scorers....so I have no issue with them..
the only problem with the slow play the ball is its got to be slow for every team...unfortunately the lower teams are percieved by fans media and officials to not be as good and "need" to hold down to compete in these games, and as a result they get penalised for holding down when they are in fact holding down the same time (probably less)as their "better opposition.
When we played Salford over easter they rolled off tackles so quickly at times it was daft....
but I'm glad the days of 4 scoots and one passage of passing rugby have gone

Phil Leului yesterday showed how to beat the three man tackle, and caused us all sorts of problems. If the slower play the ball brings back good ball playing forwards and skilled half backs, then please continue.

We all fall asleep.
Personally, I can only see really creative ball players returning to our game if off the cuff returns to our game. We have become more and more structured in attack as well as defence and I sometimes wonder if the younger crop of players, or perhaps just the majority of players, know what to do when the coach's game plan doesn't work.

| I think I would have to move to another country should Wigan manage to actually win something this season. It would be far too much to take. It just amazes me that there is such ridiculous fawning over their players. Players like Bailey, Fielden, Riddell, Phelps, Leuleuai, Feka and so on are no better than they were last season when the Wigan fans wanted them dead. Now they've got a new coach who has brought a bit of solidity to them and they all think their players are incredible all of a sudden.
Pat Richards is the best winger in the world apparently.
Amos Roberts is the best fullback there has ever been.
Fielden is just an incredible player.
Mossop is the resurrection of Jesus.
O'Loughlin is better than Wally Lewis ever was and makes Hanley look like Ricky Bibey.

| I have to say I'm not a fan of this slowing down of the play the ball at all regardless of which team does it. For me it's not a rugby skill it's a wrestling skill. And the way teams do or don't get penalised just sends out a message that it's ok to slow the PTB down one way but not another way when neither way is really in the spirit of the game.
Why is it ok to pile 4 men into a tackle and all get off one at a time like you've got arthritis, but it's not ok to put your hand on the ball for half a second? The first one slows down play for 10 seconds (but it's allowed) the second slows down play for 1 second but results in a penalty.
And I'm thoroughly sick of watching Paul Cullen with his timer getting all excited over how well teams manage to slow down the play the ball.

Sadly it's quite accurate with regards to some of the clowns on Cherry and White - a very high % of them wanted half the Wigan squad hung drawn and quatered for most of last season and O'Loughlin used to get a ritual verbal beating every week ....

Rubbish, Locky was only knocked by the odd numpty (baked bean boogie or something like that to be exact) but more than 90% appreciate everythin Locky does at Wigan. The only players some had gripes with or used as scapegoats most weeks as you call them was Roberts, Tim Smith, Mathers and Karl Pryce (2 which have left and rightly so). I was one of the few that defended Roberts because I'd seen enough of his games in the NRL to know he was a class player and I never thought he was as bad as people made him out to be, just that he wasn't showing the form that he was until he got injured.
I love it how fans at other clubs think they know more with what's beeing said at our club than what we do and like to create their own little poxy stories.

Yet you and the old man spend half your time passing judgment on all things Saints (maybe others too). I know what I read and I know what I've heard when attending Wigan matches with friends - You can add to the list above Fielden , Coley and for his entire first season the holy one .. Pat Richards.
I really cant be bothered to dig out links to all the 'not fit to wear the shirt' threads and 'not Wigan class' crap thats been posted over the last few years on Cherry and White.. it's hardly suprising you never saw them as your too busy talking about Saints.
