Since that is where the injury occurred, I don't see what the issue is? He didn't intend hitting his eye, which is what all the hysteria was about. If he'd shoved him on his back or pushed the ball into his shoulder or something to get Stosic the hell off himself, then no-one would have even noticed, much less had screaming fits over it. As is, he hit out to get him off and unintentionally hit his eye, which is where the injury occurred. Like I said earlier.

You are looking at it too literally, too black or white. It was a prod with the ball carrying hand. He didn't know which part of Stosic's anatomy was lying on him, it was just a "Oh get off me" push/prod. It wasn't worthy of being called a punch.

It seems to me they made a LOT of this so called injury and only AFTER the player got a caution only announced that he hadn't broken anything and would be fit for the weekend.

To me that is a terrible way of trying to force a longer ban on a player for a very (in the context of the game and other games) minor incident.

Ive watch the alleged PUNCH several times !! it travelled all of 6" and he had the ball in the same hand at the time , the guy went down like a sack of sh*t , best acting Ive seen in years . he may have sustained a broken eye socket in the match but its hard to see how that bitch slap could have done it in that incident.

Except he didn't. He's playing for them next weekend.
