| Quote: John Gilbert Reds "Tommy Lee IS a good signing for Saints, coming from someone who has seen plenty of him over the last few seasons. Here's why;
1. He's a workhorse. If it wasn't for his injuries in 2015 and 2016, he would be Super League top tackler without a doubt. At both points in the season up until his injury he was leading this.
2. He's solid and dependable. Rarely have I seen him have a "poor" game in a Salford shirt and is very consistent.
3. Versatility. Whilst he is a hooker he can also cover at half-back and do a stint at 13 if need be. Crucial asset over the course of a season.
4. Has a very good kicking game for a hooker, which Salford don't utilise enough.
I can understand why his signing would be met with disapproval, but I can see the logic. The only down side I can see is his injury record. He has had two lengthy injuries over the last two seasons which is the reason we're getting shut. We just cant afford to carry him on the cap anymore.
With all that said and done what with Tasi, Theo and Lee you're assembling quite a group of Salford rejects
He has 2 years worth of injuries there. He is joining a club that is almost constantly devastated by injuries...

| Quote: Magic Superbeetle "I agree, Lee shouldn't be our lead off signing, and if he is it's a PR disaster, but let's not forget he isn't - neither club has confirmed this, and the paper said exactly the same thing about Brown last week - so either way it's not the first - I suspect/ hope the last few names are being much more guarded because they are higher quality players and the announcements a bigger deal.
Burns is gone, Walsh is gone, Turner is gone, SMD is gone (don't underestimate how much he was earning), and Savelio is gone (as a part of the Brown deal, and I don't blame the club all told). The rest I don't know.'"
Is he going to widnes part ex?

So I'm lead to believe.
It's quickly becoming a Hampshire situation though, we don't want him, but we don't want anyone else to have him either

20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

| I think Brown and Smith would compliment each other quite nicely, with Browns passing ad kicking near to the line along with Smiths long kicking game they'd do fine.
They'd just need a decent fullback to make up for their lack of pace so Matty Russell would also work out well, I can't see him being on mega bucks at Wire so you may stand a chance.
Also you'd need to get rid of Wilkin, Vea, Savelio, Richards and the other young pudding. Sign Akuma Ta'ai, Ollie Roberts, Ben Murdoch Masila and you wouldn't go far wrong.

If Wigan then sign him from Widnes, it'll be a reverse Sean Long situation!

| I think Lee is a good signing for you lot. You have a world class hooker who will play more minutes than Lee, there's no point investing a large chunk of the salary cap on another. I don't have any inside know leg but I doubt he'll be on a big wage. You signed a good, solid pro with leadership qualities who can also cover other positions if required. Decent bit of business IMO.

| Tommy Lee isn't big surprise. He's the same type of quality we have in our squad and probably a higher grade signing than peyroux, Owens and certainly a bigger signing than Tasi who imo is one of the worst signings tn8s Club has ever made.
At least Tommy Lee gets in the Salford team unlike peyroux who didn't at Warriors, Owens at widnes and Tasi at Salford.

I think it was your threat to hound the Saints Twitter feed that swung it.

I think so too.
Cunningham was referring to me when he made his comment about the Saints fans being sheep following the one guy who thinks negatively.

So, he's solid, dependable and consistent, except for when he's injured for half a season? Sounds like a quality signing.
