| W ahat makes this particularly unsavoury if true is attacking the head of an already concussed player.
If I had to name player capable of something like that, I'd name McIlorum.

| First of all I didn't see it as I suspect the majority of fans also didn't. Having watched the video, Wellens makes a poor tackle on Richards (gets his head in the wrong position) and gets a knock, but he gets back in the defensive line for the next tackle. He is also back in the defensive line when Crosby scores.

But before he could get to his feet he was knocked down again by the Wigan player. There were no other players around as they had all moved up field with the play. There was no need for him to have been anywhere near Wellens he could have avoided him. I think he needs to go to Specsavers if he can't see that far infront of him.

So was he knocked down, kicked in the head or hit with a knee? There appears to be a few different versions.

As Wellens was trying to get up off the floor he was on all fours by this time, (hands and knees ) the Wigan player ran in to him and caught him in the head with a knee or foot which knocked him back down again. The point is there was no need for the Wigan player to have gone anywhere near to were Wellens was. After he had knocked him down again he just carried on running up the field.

| There is no doubt he caught Wellens whilst he was on all fours, shin, knee or thigh is the only question.

| Maybe Wellens fell back down because he was concussed or tried to con the ref into giving a penalty/stopping the game?

| can't see it on the sky coverage, but Wellens was laying 2 meters directly behind the play of the ball when wigan was on a roll and Mcllorum was trying he's best to get to the ball and pushed Thornley out the way in the process. There was no protests from Wellens or any other saints player so cant see it being as malicious as some are trying to refer it as, also no doubt wellens was hurting but there is no way he gets back 70 meters that quick whilst being out of it.

No, he was definitely knocked down. There was certainly a collision between Wellens and McIlorum which McIlorum could easily have avoided. What I wouldn't like to say for certain is if there was a direct knee (it didn't look like a kick to me) to the head or whether he just ran into it. Either way it was totally uncalled for.

| The view I had was directly behind the incident. McIlorum could have avoided contact had he so wished. He didn't. Contact was made on Wello's head by McIlorum's knee as Wello attempted to regain his feet whilst obviously dazed. It looked nasty and cowardly I'm sad to say.

There was definitely contact, and it was avoidable. It'll be interesting to see what comes of it, if anything.

| I saw it too, a lot of people around me did too because there was a loud protest from our area of the stand after it happened! When I watched the highlights back on Sky, I was pretty shocked to see it not showed or even mentioned at all. Will be interesting to see if the disciplinary panel pick it up or not..

| Not sure why people think McIlorum would deliberately target Wellens. He was our best player on Friday.
