Not on todays showing. Paul Wellens esque today, two great try savers and absolutely nothing else to offer.

Paul Wellens showed far more inclination to link into the attack against Leeds than Sam Tomkins did tonight. Sam Tomkins was nowhere in attack tonight. All he did was run sideways.

But at least he can run.

That was a mistake by Shenton. He should have passed the ball. Hall could have snuck a try there.

I agree that we need to take such fixtures away from Headingley, not least because it's a dire stadium which doesn't look good.

It would have been far more apt if the Tesco where central park used to be had Radlinski written on the door mat at the entrance.

Cant really blame Tomkins. Our halves offered very little and Tomkins had sod all to 'link' into . We were as always poor.

Back on topic, yes I've heard it before, at Elland Road in the tri nations as Harris took the field.

The Leeds fans do turn up in numbers for internationals in Leeds, but they bring their club mentality with them.

I've been at internationals at Wigan and Bolton and Blackburn, you will hear the odd comment about why is so and so playing, our player is so much better. But generally Wigan and Saints fans will keep their club loyalties in their back pockets and get on with supporting the team.

Tomkins was good tonight, not his best but better than some, I thought the Saints lads did pretty well, ok Wilkin threw a little over robinsons head, but he did break through. Robinson was pretty decent too, a very good player, filled in well for Roby. Thought Macalorum did not manage to keep us moving forwards the same. O'loughlin had some good moments. Thought Westwood and Graham ran really well, but Carvell and Morley did not offer the same threat, peacock had 1 decent run from what I saw. But in the end we just defended mostly. Our lack of decent halfback play meant we did not make much, when we got good field position.

I liked the way Wilkin and Meli got stuck into each other during the match, a few niggly digs like Wilkin flopping late on Meli over the try line. Not quite an orgin dust up, but still.

I was thinking about GB vs NZ in 2006 (?) at Knowsley Road tonight, and sections of Saints fans booing Newton in a GB jersey.

It was the same tonight, far too many people with a club over country and sport attitude will hold back rugby league.

Never booed Newton, but cheering for him after he smashed Long was a step too far for me.

A year or 2 later I got over myself and grew up a bit.

Slowing the play the ball down every time is NOT legal. It's cheating.
