| Quote: McClennan "Quote: McClennan "If you believe that the game has not gone negative, that the rugby league is still as exciting and that teams are actually demonstrating a better ability to keep hold of the ball, then I suggest you go to the doctor immediately and get yourself off the happy pills. /quote]
The slowing of the PTB has reduced the openess of the game. It has also led to more tackles being made in the competition. As defences improve the openess of the game reduces. Is the improvement in defence partly due to the slowing down of the PTB? Yes. However, some people used to suggest that the game was too open and creativity was dying as a result and would state that we should consider reducing the 10m rule back. We can't have it both ways. Either we speed up the PTB and moan about lack of creativity or we keep it as it is and moan about the lack of creativity.'" '"
I have not blamed the play-the-ball per se.
As it happens, last night perfectly demonstrated the negative tactics of the game.
On very few occasions did we try to move the ball about to fashion chances and we relied heavily on percentage plays.
Now, i could handle this a little more if the coaches could point to the fact that their team lost too much possession by keeping the ball alive yet how is it possible for teams to lose possession more than they are doing at the moment.
The alarming thing is, even with one pass and a drive, we are still seeing dropped ball akimbo. Most of the time, that is because the dummy half can't even execute a simple one metre pass.
The standard of play, with ball in hand, in this country is appalling and it makes for awful viewing.

Hard yards rewarded by quick PTB's and more skill in that game than in ANY SL game all season. I really enjoyed last night's game, it's how the game should be played.

Hookers and half backs who can pass and kick, who'd have thunk it?

| Loved that match. It was good to know that RL is alive and kicking somewhere in the world. And those two teams are just warming up too. What a final it will be!
I hope the RFL take note.

I think you need to take a chill pill. Either that or go back to your own board.
There were lots of offloads in the England -v- France match, from players from all clubs, not just boring Leeds. But not one player on the pitch on Friday night came close in quality of offloads to the any of players on the pitch on Saturday night. The gap in quality across the park was huge.

2 offloads, marvellous!
The standard of the game in this country is poor in comparions and you glossing over it won't change that.

30462.jpg [b:3oz7jfnu]Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane told BBC Radio Manchester:
"Some people within the club [Castleford] have come out with comments saying we're beatable and it's a great game for them and they're very confident.
Many of the comments I've heard have been bordering on disrespectful.
They can be as confident as they want, but they're going to get a tough game this weekend and we'll be trying our best to make sure they don't get that win.
We've played in some big games over these last few years and they've not played in as many, if any, so to be that confident is very risky for them.
They come here with confidence because they've scored a lot of points and beaten us at home, but I wouldn't be overconfident if I was them."
[u:3oz7jfnu]Incidentally Wane's mob got stuffed 16 - 4[/u:3oz7jfnu] [/b:3oz7jfnu]:30462.jpg |

| How can you lot be bored of super league?
You have had years upon years of success
I love going down the lane to watch the tigers,we never know what's in store for each game never mind the season,we've been relegated and come back successfully to the big time, life is never dull as a tigers fan,we also play a fantastic brand of rugby which is exciting to watch,ok it doesn't always bring us the spoils but it's great to watch
I'd suggest that your coach has stiffled your attacking prowess this past season,so your grievances surely lie much closer to home
At the end of the day if you're all diss-illussioned with RL in these parts, you could always come and support the Tigers next season
