I remeber them looking at Huddersfield doing it last year very affeectively, 4 in to stop the run then 1 peels early, and one as they hit the ground, hold 'em down for a few seconds and hey presto, every ones back in position.

I wonder why Hudds aren't doing it this year? Or at least, not so's we'd notice anyway.

Bradford used to do something similar. They actually tried to stop the player but hold him up until just as the ref was about to or had shouted held before putting the man on the floor.

They had it down to a fine art and gained a good 6/7 seconds at the PTB.

Funny this isn't it? Last year Wigooners were complaining about the poor quality of play i.e. slow PTBs, but as soon as their team does it and does it well it becomes a triumph of their team's collective spirit and RL has suddenly never been as exciting.

And they whine on about people wanting to change the rules solely due to Wigan becoming good again, and how this shows what a humungous club they are, blissfully ignoring all the ranting they did about Roby/Pryce et al scooting from the PTB and how the rules HAD to change to stop this horrible advantage seemingly only Saints could exploit.

Still, I can see why they're getting all giddy, what with the Ten Match Champions trophy in the cabinet.

So Wigan have caught up with Saints and Leeds in the defensive techniques and now all of SL are up in arms about it, we are the most hated side in SL by a mile and its starting to get cringworthy with the anti Wigan e. If we win today i wonder what we get called rotten for off Uncle Pringles.

This is a fantastic thread. Its just great watching the fear, hatred and envy of Wigan reach levels not seen since the mid 90s.

Shaun McRae showed much more class today. He didn't whinge about tactics, he just acknowledged that Wigan are "the best team in the competition". I always thought that he was too good for you....

Nobody really 'fears' Wigan any more and they havent since you imploded in the mid to late 90's (which I still find highly amusing) , like all teams in SL now we're all full time and working off a reasonably even footing you are very beatable on any given day.

Hatred - I'll give you that. Most teams fans remember your lots arrogance that went from the fans and players all the way to that cretin of a chairman you had.

Envy - LOL well I guess all the Bradford,Saints,Leeds etc fans are all just burning with envy at all the trophy's you guy's have won in the last decade or so. I know it's difficult for a Wiganer to grasp but you really dont get anything for topping the table in April or being the "the best team in the competition" in April (which I would concur with btw)
