It seems Mason entered the country on his NZ passport, still awaiting the return of his Tongan passport I'd assume, and therefore has to be registered with said NZ passport.

Dobson isn't any good to anyone for 2 months, and as others have said we would be foolish to take this risk.

I reckon that "by the book" Rovers have had to indeed "terminate his contract" and will "re-sign" him when Mason comes off the quota.

I don't rate DObson as highly as some, but he is the sort of scrum half our team needs - a general/organiser/kicker.
I like to think our quota spots ar for Superstars, but it would probably work out pretty well for us.

hes not the complete package, his defence is pretty poor, but he has the attacking spark we need IMO

One wonders if Hull KR knew about the implications of deregistering him, or whether they assumed it would be a purely paper exercise and that they would just continue to pay him as normal until he was re-registered. It would seem that Hull KR have had to enter into a compromise agreement with Dobson and will re-sign him on a new deal in due course. I guess he would then need to re-apply for his own VISA?

Rollocks. If Hull KR lose Dobson in this mess, they've no one to blame but themselves - all for a 30+ aussie who couldn't be d to turn up for the start of the season.

Would be probably the best signing in a few years for us, he has everything that we need (kicking at goal, kicks in open play, attacking prowess etc)

It would also give us the knowledge that we are secure after KE leaves. There is no reason why we shouldnt sign him.

It would serve HKR right if ourselves or someone did pick him up and Mason decided he wanted out! Its quite possible as Dobson has no real chance of trophies at HKR, where as here he has at least a chance!
