| I would not necessarily dismiss this out of hand. We know Koukash was trying to get a marquee player agreed for SL, indeed the only reason it was squeezed off the agenda was because of the current SL v RFL argument. He obviously has money, he has a huge amount of drive and ambition, and he thinks 'big picture'.

| Quote: Magic Superbeetle "It's well known koukash has been chasing sbw around like a demented paparazzi over the World Cup. He's taken every opportunity he can take to rub shoulders with the kiwis and Aussies. He openly said during the recent Salford open day he was trying to sign someone with initials SB ... Doesn't make one Iotas difference and will end the same way his Sam tomkins bid did, with people going "oh wait, you're serious?"
I know it's good for the game to have more owners capable of pulling off major signings and a strong Salford can only be good, but I personally find him cringeworthy.'"
Slightly different to the Tomkins bid, for one Tomkins agent didn't take Koukash seriously, SBW's agent was with Koukash at the Open day they had at the club on Sunday to have a meeting, and two
Tomkins wasn't really interested and didn't even meet Koukash for discussions, where as SBW went to Koukash's house in person for a meeting.
This is him with Koukash's daughter and youngest son
This pic was put on his daughters twitter profile.
So i wouldn't take this as any sort of joke.

| pfft puny arms does he even go to the gym?
Koukash said he is willing to wait till 2015 so sonny can go back and finish union. he still has another 7-8 years in him so i wouldn't be bothered about the wait.

| Would love MK to sign SBW for Salford, regardless of when he would arrive. Would be a huge coup for Salford and SL.

| He might sign for the Salford retirement home when he's 35 but not before.

| I can't honestly see this happening. After the 2015 RUWC SBW, in my opinion, will have a host of options that will pay a great deal more than Salford could. Forget how much money MK has, he still has to spend within the cap. French RU, Japanese Rugby, who will be looking for publicity ahead of the 2019 RUWC would pay him megabucks and I wouldn't be surprised if he had another year or two in the NRL, who will also pay way more than Salford could. He will only be 31 ish at this time so still a couple of good seasons in him.
Could perhaps be an option when he is in the final year of his career but, with all due respect, why would he chose the North of England when he could virtually play anywhere in the world!

| This sort of thing will depend entirely upon what happens in the next round of TV negotiations. If the RFL manage to get interest from BT then we could end up with a significantly more well-funded sport, either by leaving Sky or by putting Sky in a position where they have to up their offer to keep the sport. That situation would change the landscape overnight - just like the big NRL tv deal did.

| Couldn't fit him under the celery cap if they tried.
I would propose the idea that teams should be able to have a 1 marquee player, provided they can prove they have the funds available to facilitate the player for the full length of his contract. That would give the game an edge and bring the best players over for 1/2 year deals.
Some teams wouldnt go for it though due to the thought of the "rich staying rich and the poor staying poor". Ala teams like Cas may not be able to attract the calibre of player that say Warrington could afford...

Union players don't count on the cap though (Koukash words) do they so he'll go back to Union for a season then come back on a huge deal.

Union players don't count on the cap only if they have never played league before - hence eastmond would count, and thus so would sbw -

"(iii) has not played Rugby League at any age group or level, subject to the RSCM’s ability to use his reasonable discretion to override this restriction so that, non-exhaustively, it would ordinarily apply only to those who have not: "

Didn't the Super League clubs just vote to do away with all those concessions to the cap (excluding additional for players representing England or France) just a couple of weeks ago. Mind you the Doctor never misses the chance to use a good sound-bite even if it isn't based on reality.

| He's already signed an extension for the roosters for next year. And then it's pretty much nailed on he'll go back to Union for the World Cup 2015.
