| This is a kick in the teeth to all the young (or even the not-so-young) English-born aspiring half-backs
- Lomax, Myler, Gaskell, Tomkins ?, Ratchford [young]
- Burrow, McGuire, Brough, Briers ?, Price ?, Brown [not-so-young]
Plenty of options - no need to pick overseas players, no matter how good.

Lomax= scrumhalf/fullback
Myler = scrumhalf
Gaskell = to inexperienced
Ratchford = not played well enough
Tomkins = fullback
Burrow = hooker/scrumhalf
McGuire = I'll give you that as possible
Brough = scrumhalf
Briers = no
Brown = not good enough
Pryce = not played enough rugby
I don't see it as a kick in the teeth, other teams in all sports do this including the Aussies. McNamara has to pick the best team possible and if that includes the current man of steel who could be our stand off for next 5 years!
It's down to the likes of Gaskell, ratchford etc to push on and make that stand off position their own.

| I didn't agree with it when Maurie got selected for England and don't agree with Chases selection. However if he scores the match winning try in the four nations my opinion may soften a little. It won't actually as I think it's wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer all the players to be English but if chase legally qualifies then McNamara would be stupid not to take advantage at this current time.
Other countries in all sports do it.
Put yourself in McNamara's shoes, it's his job on the line here. He's going to do all possible to keep his job by doing well in the four nations.
I can't see the difference between what McNamara is doing and what Wigan have done with pay Richards to get him non quota.

| I've got no problem with Chase playing for England. The more talent available to us, the better. Let's get competitive and then we might get noticed by the rest of the world!

I agree.
Wasn't brough Scottish at one point until he started playing well so we thought we'd have him back?

Exactly as do NZ - the Aussies just pick anyone who is eligible and good enough, isnt Willie Mason a kiwi?
Good enough for them good enough for us, we dont have enough quality players to be too picky

| Australia have no qualms about naming Akuila Uate who is Fijian ( and played for Fiji in the 2008 world cup ) in their squad and qualifies on residency so why shouldnt we name Chase in ours ? The Aussies and Kiwis allways fit in Tongans,Fijians ect if they are good enough.Jack Reed is a player that springs to mind imediatly on this topic,the Aussies wanted him to play for them so how would that of been different from Chase for us ?

| Toni Carroll is a prime example. Kiwi born and played 3 times for New Zealand in 2000 before qualifying for Australia on residency (hadn't played for his county for 3 years too) so the Aussies picked him in 2004.
Rules are rules, let's use them to our advantage just like everyone else.

Exactly - although I will say I don't agree with switching countries once you've played for one at senior level, it makes the international game look even more mickey mouse than it already is.
In Yawnion didnt Martin Johnson play for NZ as a junior?

I agree with this, when you've played for your country at the top level you shouldn't be able to switch.

| I only have a problem with switching countries, and even then only between the genuine RL nations - England, Aus, NZ, France and PNG. All other RL 'national teams' are fabrications to make up the numbers for international competitions. I don't understand why people get so upset about the likes of Brough playing for 'Scotland' then jumping to Enlgand, or Uate playing for 'Fiji'. Neither Scotland or Fiji really exist in RL terms.
