| From a personal point, i'm up at 4.45am for work Mon-Sat so it's a NO for me....and the amount of children that will miss out too because of school. I'd prefare Sat or Sun TBH...In reply to "diehardofowld" in fairness to your comment about the "Floodlit Trophy" that was a cup comp from what i recall so it was separate from the league...

| Love the idea of MNSL, myself. I'm pretty sure in other countries like Australia and USA, Monday nights are considered prime time and great slots for TV viewing figures. Sure, the attendances may suffer at first, but I think the idea will catch on and expose RL to a greater audience. Long term thinking, people.

| I'm up for it especially during the summer when it's light nights, school holidays and stuff. There's no other sport during that time which is on a Monday night so there's a good opportunity for decent exposure with the game because let's face it, whilst I quite like Saturday night games it can be difficult to attend or watch if you have domestic commitments especially during the summer e.g. weddings, days out, weekends away. Also Saturday night games tend to get half a column centimetre in the Sunday papers.
The two concerns I have are first the frequency at which teams get picked for this game should not be that high to safeguard against attendances i.e. no more than one home game televised during that ten week period on a Monday. Away games should be the same although perhaps allowed for two games. The second concern is the turnaround for the following weekend.
All that said, like the trucks idea, it's an attempt to improve the profile of the sport which is what RL fans constantly complain about. The national media, tabliods/broadsheets aren't going to do it and SKY do a better job of promoting our sport. If we're going to attract new fans it's more likely to come from local promotions and SKY than, say, a national newspaper report about Warrington putting 60 on Wakefield. Our problem is not how the game is reported its getting people to see it. Once they see it they like it. I'm liking the RL's ambition.

I think if you looked back at the records the crowds were pretty dire.

7880_1279366131.jpg CHALLENGE CUP WINNERS 2006,'07 & '08
Giant killers, Dragon slayers & Airlie Birds wing clippers
75-0 thats a record score... 16 yrs of misery, gone in 80 minutes
If God took up rugby league then his name would have been Vollenhoven with AJ Murphy along too:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_7880.jpg |

| My point was not that it was a cup comp or that it was poorly attended, but that it wasnt new.
I suspect that it will lead to more than a few arguments in households, when the partner wishes to watch constipation drivel and that "nights " game is turned on instead. Oh those rows ....not again!!!
One other point ....twix saturday and friday is a fair recovery time ...twix monday to friday mmmmm Also the cry of too many games and no recovery time will be muted more than once, come the end of the season, of that I am sure.

47035_1386433761.gif We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47035.gif |

| To be fair, the home crowd will be little effected and the fact that it's against Warrington will mean the away attendance should have little effect either.
Same for Warrington at home to Catalan, they bring so few anyway.
On a Monday night in the middle of the summer hols it's not too bad. Monday night in the middle of feb with school in the morning would be a different senario.
Like I said the home fans it's not too much of a stretch, even with work the next morning the majority won't see 10pm for bed too late. There will be some fans put out who have early starts, like posties, but posties also work saturdays so would have the same issue and not everyone has a saturday or sunday morning off, so again they have to cope with games as and when they are planned.
It's last minute alterations that are more of an issue than something planned and stuck to months in advance.

The DW is relaying the pitch? The Latics need to prepare for the lower divisions? The club complained about Monday night league and so the RFL complied?
We will never know.
I'm also interested in just how many cross Pennine games there are.

They are also only one of the few teams that will only get a three day break before their next game.
