I didn't either. I pay monthly. Like I said, it's worked out a steal.
Quote: BackrowSaint "I have a feeling it may be Foster at full back with Armstrong slotting in on the wing, that is if Makinson doesn't recover from his dead leg.'"
Maybe. I'm hoping Makinson recovers from his deadleg. He's the most likely to recover from the three who went down today anyway. Scott Moore described his ankle injury: 'felt like it was in a million pieces', which sounds very bad indeed! We could do with Jamie resting his legs between efforts as he will be our only goal kicker next Monday, won't he?

I have to agree with this to an extent. His first try was a great piece of play the second he did well to play to the whistle. Caught everything and returned the ball well.
On the other hand he did some very strange things. His out the back pass that went straight into touch was bizzare. Given that he has had limited chances in the first team I can understand if the reason for this was he was trying to hard.
I have always thought he would make a good full back. If Royce can coach the crazy plays out of him then hopefully he can get a good run in the team.

How did you do that?

Yeah from what I've been told we won't be seeing Jonny or Scott back next week or any time soon judging off first impressions. Scans will confirm or hopefully tell us something different later this week.

Yep, I think you're right on that one, depending on whether Royce sees fit to bring Kyle back into the squad should he get over his chest infection.

The out the back pass was a cracking piece of skill that would have resulted in a try had it gone to Foster rather than the touchline. Would you rather he wasn't trying that kind of thing in the first place? I think that's a dangerous precedent to set. Personally I'll never bag a player for trying something close to the opposition line.

The offer to do that was open to everyone who wanted a season ticket at the end of last season. I've just got a one year one. I'm a newbie season ticket holder.

Hopefully they are fast healers!

I can't see Kyle being over his chest infection by next Monday as they can drag on for weeks. But, you never know! One day, we may have players returning en masse instead of limping off en masse!

Thats way over the top!!! The guy hasnt played with us all season, he's scored 2 tries and generally played very well. Some people just arent satisfied.

Well bloody hell I never knew that, I've had a season ticket for about 6 years previous. Shows that when Saints send stupid leaflets in the post that I should probably read them.

Well in about 5 or 6 weeks we should see a few back so I'll look forward to that day.

Agreed, i was right near that play and Jamie over ran it slightly IMO.

I have no problem with trying something out but he made some bad choices during the match as to when to try these things.
For example his long pass to Foster cutting out Meli. A lovely long pass.
Result
Foster is pushed into touch.
Ashurst (with 15 seconds left) is in the same position. Takes two steps and passes it to Meli.
Result
Meli steps round two players and wins the match.
Which pass was the most skillful: Armstrongs
Which pass was the correct one to do: Ashursts

He does. But he is an inexperienced player, not having had much game time with Saints since being promoted to first team and he has been playing with Leigh this season. The way he will learn how to make good judgements in the heat of the moment under pressure is partly by making mistakes.

| I know it's a different league and different opposition, but his defence and reading of the game when he's played for Leigh has been excellent. He might not be ready for SL just yet, but he's not too far off IMO

www.blip.tv/file/5033470 if you go to 1.07 then you will see where Armstrong got the pass from, we scored off this one though

| I thought he looked confident and assured at fullback, more so than Makinson.
I thought he took his trys well, and returned the ball well at fullback, taking some excellent catches.
I can think of two takes in particular which showed excellent hands. One was were he took a kick with both hands outstretched above his head, and the other was were he picked up a low kick from his bootlaces.
In the second half he came in for some stick when Saints fell behind because as usual some fans needed someone to blame. As a result when two passes he threw went in touch he was deemed by some in the crowd to be the cause of all Saints problems. Personally i thought he, along with other players kept missing Meli out because they knew Francis was injured and barely able to run.
He coped some stick of some people for the kick through, even though the kick was on the last tackle, we had nobody on the pitch able to put in a kick, and the kick itself was actually good and pinned Cas on their 10 yard line. Neither was there any clear overlap and try scoring opportunity.
The try that was conceded was IMO the fault of golden boy Foster and Meli ,who failed to tackle the Castleford player. Why the fullback should be blamed for failing to stop this try is beyond me, as they will be behind the line looking for kicks.
All in all a pretty decent performance on which to build. I would like to see Armstrong play more at Fullback as i think his size and pace would potentially cause teams problems.

Which one was this? I saw Foster make a balls up of a catch and they scored as a result. Meli didn't bother tackling but that is par for the course with Meli generally. But did foster cock up twice?

Ovalballs doesn't make mistakes luv. He, like Armstrong, has learning experiences.
