Because next season in Pryce and Eastmond we have two creative runners but if Im honest cannot see any of these two controlling a game when the team is on the back foot. Smith has a much better positional kicking game than both. It would be a mistake to dismiss smith now while eastmond is untested. Wigan and Long come to mind.....

If that was the case, then Smith would be in the team now. Why would Saints send a player on loan and reward a player who will ultimately be lost? It wouldn't make much business sense.

If that rumour is true, it has nothing to do with Smith being sent on loan. Almost every player (Scott Moore being an exception) that gets sent out on loan ends up being sold.

Eastmond's passing and running is far better than Smith's.

Smith is not good enough to play 7 for Saints.
