| I remember in Saints vs Wigan games from that year, McCracken would pummel Offiah every time he touched the ball. Offiah would poo his kecks if anyone passed to him and couldn't get rid of the ball quick enough.

| Did he stand on Dean Bell's 'privates' on boxing day?
Kind of remember something happening, or was it other way round.
Skerret hit him with a elbow, skerret sent off... Guess who took the next drive in after the tap.... Jarrod McCracken, straight into Cowie & Platt..
Loved that team, Hunte, Griffiths, Ropati, Cooper, Ward...
You young un's don't know ya born, we had to put up with that team!!

Wasn't a bad side that year ... we finished equal on points with Wigan in 92-3. The few years following were pretty awful though.

it was Steve Hampson who got the special "private" treatment (and it was the day after boxing day ). also in that game, a fight broke out after a kick down field - McCracken ran the ball back 60m straight to where the fight was, dropped the ball and got stuck in.
golden days....we didnt win anything, but you could always guarantee a derby day fight.

Was there meself!IIRC,one of my favourite ever tackles occured.Picture the scene-Martin Offiah lying prone, having slipped/tripped himself over -Sonny Nickle and Alan Hunte, not believing their luck, smashed into him together,full-pelt-hilarious,er,I mean great tackle!
Could`ve sworn they had to dig Offiah out of the mud!

Wasn't this the last ever Lancashire cup final? Maybe wrong but that's what I always thought. I remember Chris Joynt kicking through but wasn't quite quick enough to get to the ball. I think that was the closest we came to scoring. Was a great crowd and great atmosphere too. Wiganers even stayed until the end, well most of 'em anyway

It was the last ever Lancs cup final.
The venue was decided on the toss of a coin (the only thing that Saints won )
Great game, great crowd, great atmosphere and a great result.
As I said earlier, stick your fancy dan tick and pass superleague where the sun doesn't shine.
THAT WAS A GAME OF RUGBY LEAGUE OF THE FINEST ORDER.
No-one who left that ground felt that they hadn't had their moneys worth, and to use a Div expression, no-one was bothered about George Michael and the toilets.
Seriously, forget the result, because if they had played it a week later it could have been just as close but with a Saints win, which would you rather watch, todays game or that real battle.

I seem to remember McCracken being quoted as this was the best game he ever played in.
