| A terrible injury, but I think this result is the best that could have been hoped for. Back on his feet within 5 months, means he will play again for you Guys next year.

| Fibula is the small bone in your leg so not as bad as first feared?
I was expecting to hear his foot came off or something?
Would it be wrong to want to see his x-ray (just to be nosey)

| Better news than expected so send him home and let that winter sunshine get him ready for next season.
We move on.

No. The fibula is the thinner of the two bones running from your knee to your ankle. The fibula is part of the ankle mechanism. Sounds like he snapped it right at the base so the ankle fell out of place. He had a compound fracture as well, the bone coming through the skin.
rlMore of what Brown says is quoted hererl and it sounds like the timescale for return is more on the optimistic side. So let's hope his recovery goes well!
You'll also notice in that article that Brown is thinking of running with Wheeler and Turner in the halves.

| It's certainly better news than I expected it to be, but still a long road or recovery and rehab for Walshy. Good luck to him and I hope it all goes to plan.

| I was fearing the worse in that it could have been a career ending injury so thats good news, another positive is that the Walsh family will have absorbed all the respect from most of super league to wish him well to recovery. This might mean he will definitely be in a Saints shirt next season.
I also agree with Browns thinking, Wheeler and Turner is a much better option than Wheeler and Wello. this will probably mean Wello going in the back row replacing Wilkin and having a role of middle defender linking up with the halves.

| 4 to 5 months? I'd take that every time considering some have been saying it could be 12 months on the sidelines for what was such a freak injury.
At least it's turned out Luke only broke the fibula rather than the tibula as well as can happen in those situations, that would have been a serious length of time out of the game.

Good news about Walsh, hopefully, with a return date due in the off season, there's no need to rush and take any sort of risk.
As for next week, if wheeler and turner are in the halves I'd guess were going with:
McDonnell
Makinson Percival Jones Swift
Turner Wheeler
Amor Roby Walmsley
Soliola Manu
Wellens
Thompson Laffranchi Masoe LMS
With Flanaghan and Dawson being the others named in the 19 man squad. Given the personnel out, that's still a relatively strong squad if someone can find a kicking game...

I don't think he will move Wellens from 1 unless he is going to play in the halves. I think we have enough forwards without having to put Wellens there. Wilkin didn't play last week and he didn't use Wellens there so i don't see why he would do it this week.
I may be wrong but I can't see McDonnell playing this week unless he goes with a back off the bench as a different option.
You're right about it still looking like a fairly strong 17, despite the absence of 4 key players.

And yet elsewhere Brown says he's playing Wheeler and Turner in the halves!
Never take what Brown says too seriously ...
