When are people going to realise that the "boss" of our sport is the TV stations. If they say a match is to be played at a specified time on a specified date it WILL be played. It's plain and simple and if the powers that be at Wigan don't realise that then it's their problem when circumstances like this arise.

Don't be ridicules the RFL schedule the challenge cup and they do an appalling job of it, do you honestly think Sky and BBC forced the RFL to have the challenge cup played during the climax of the premier league season? Why an earth would Sky ask or want the Challenge cup to be played when most of the nation will be focusing on the football? Use your brain Jesus Christ! If our governing body had any sense they would have the games played when there's no conflicts with other sports and they'll get the most attention through viewing figures, attendances and media coverage.

Yes - the Challenge Cup needs to fit into the BBC's sport schedule. Like it or not, it is the BBC who set the agenda on the dates of the cup rounds.

It was the BBC in the first place that moved the Challenge Cup to August. They dictate when the rounds are played to fit in with their schedules. Wigan only made a request. Why should the rest of RL bow down to Wigan. In Wigan's eyes it's like the saying 'everbody's out of step only our Johnny.' (Change that to Wigan).
Wigan knew when the rounds were being played and should have had contingency plans in place for such an occurrence.

Would there be this fuss over the footy if Wigan were still at central park. NO. So the only reason IL wants RL to account for this is for Wigans sake not RL's.

If you don't like the fixture list go play some other sport, but don't be surprised when that clashes with the 12 month football fixtures. Personally I would like a more compressed CC. But it would not resolve this as I would have it early on so we get the CC final on the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May. That would not stop fixtures in the footy season.

So we aren't supposed to hold the Challenge Cup during the soccer season are we in case Wigan are inconvenienced by a game on the same weekend as a soccer match?

What you say is stupid. Only Wigan ever cause this problem. Ask yourself why and you just might discover that the problem actually has nothing whatsoever to do with the RFL but with Wigan.

All clubs request times when they would prefer not to have a match but they are simply requests. There are no guarantees, especially around a competition which is based upon the luck of the draw like the Challenge Cup is. Wigan like everyone else was aware of the Cup schedule and so should have made contingency plans, just as all other clubs will have done. Catalans usually play on Saturdays but have had to play on Sunday as their ground is being used for something else on the Saturday I believe. They don't make a big fuss about it. They just get on with it. I am sure they requested that that particular Saturday be avoided also.

Also, I really question the wisdom of having a wedding on a day where there will be potentially 20,000 people in a small area of town, and traffic will be utter chaos, plus they're going on about noise.....its Wigan v Saints, not the Airport.

I might go and buy something from Saints store tonight, the staff in there will be top notch and wonderfully helpful in comparison

Quite sad for a club that used to claim to be the biggest in the game, now has to play second fiddle to a footy club that is of such small stature. Show's how far the club has fallen from its once lofty heights, but hey, at least they had a few years of success back in the eighties in exchange for their home, and all their history, heritage and pride that went with it.

Ian, if you don't want a match to clash with the football, then I recommend trying to get your own ground and stop sharing a football teams ground.

IMO they are a very insecure band of supporters on their forum who are ruled by a North Korean like dictatorship by their Moderators who seem to deem it necesarry to ban anyone who dares to oppose the fact that Wigan are not the biggest and most successful club side that the world has ever seen,you also cannot detest the fact that they also have the best academy system in the world,you must also agree that the mighty Saints are forever in their shadow or else

I suppose that their insecurity is validated when clubs like ourselves,Wire,Salford and Leigh have a place called home
