I will be renewing my season ticket regardless because im a fan of the club. Didnt Wigan post record averages the year they nearly went down? Proper fans, unlike our shower who think St Helens have a god given right to win everything including the NRL grand final. RL world cup and Olympic long jump

I'll always be a Saints fan but I'm bored. It's not that we losing more regular these days, I just can't sit there watching the sort of rugby on offer.

I'd feel exactly the same If we was top of the league . I just don't enjoy it and I can't justify paying for my season ticket for something I just don't enjoy.

I don't enjoy super league anymore. I've been more u16s and u19s games this year than I have saints first grade as I enjoy it more.

I don't even watch super league on sky much either. I do watch nrl the and enjoy thst but for me super league is boring.

Why is it childish ? Its right. As I said, wigan posted recorded attendences the year they nearly went down. They are proper fans. Our fan base, including you are an embarassment. Thats not childish. If you read the post, you will see I'm bored of rugby league. I prefer watching the kids if the future than the team we have now. I paid for my season ticket so I continue to support the club but I don't like going the first team games. I can't sit there for 80 mins bored out my mind.

The way your talking, you'd think we was bottom of the league? If we beat wildcats today we are 4 points off the top 4 so I fail to see how you compare it to Wigan nearly getting relegated lol.

I don't enjoy golf, so I don't watch it. I don't enjoy formula 1, so I don't watch it. I don't enjoy watching super league, so I don't watch it.

How you can call someone not a "proper fan" is laughable just because they don't enjoy it anymore.

I,m not sure what your definition of a "proper fan" is, last year and this year lots of fans who have supported the club for 20, 30, 40, 50+ years have stopped supporting the club these are not fans who have jumped on the Superleague Bandwagon.

For myself I am related to one of our club legends and have worked with 3 other club legends, I,ve managed to catch up with a couple of them and they are telling me exactly the same thing that the club is fragmented and not working in the same direction, they also say there is a "sloppy mental attitude" within the club.

Up to the last 18 months I went to home and away games with the expectation of a win, I know this wasn't possible but at least we saw the "Saints Way" of playing the game, this season they are nothing like a "Saints Team" completely dumb and gutless for large parts of the games and the most boring Saints Side I've ever come across.......................... So I've decided to call it a day, still a saints fan but I,m not supporting this shower of players who think they are good because they wear a saints shirt.

What you mean a game that we won? Away from home, playing some good open rugby where we were entertaining? Nah don't be stupid. It doesn't sit well with the moaning warts who now frequent this board. They'll be back next time we lose though.

Unfortunately, living in London, I only get to see the televised games (maybe one live match a year on a visit home). I use these boards to keep informed of what goes on off-screen.

Looks like nobody who went to Wakey is a poster. A shame. Will watch the highlights later today.

This is a thread about the board so if I was a mod, I'd be moving any game comments to their own thread.

It is possible to discuss both.

Personally I think we need to be more grown up about people watching the game or not watching it. I know a relation of mine was a staunch fan and then fell out of love for the game/ club for a good 10-20 years but then grew to love it again.

Peoples tastes and priorities change, as some fans leave others will fill the gap. As is shown by the attendances. Lots of people on several boards have stopped going, but the attendances hold up as new people start going. The key to growth would be to retain more than we loose.

I drifted very slowly away from the club. You miss a few home games, then travelling becomes more of a chore so you miss somemore games. Until actually you realise that it's no longer your top past-time.
I still want the club to do well, I'm still interested in seeing the scores and watching the odd game. But it's not the be all and end all that it once was.
No doubt my interest will ebb and flow, but that is pretty normal.
I'd say I'm a fan rather than a supporter if we want to split definitions.

I don't have the time, the money or the passion to keep saints front and centre. But I'm glad others do.

I think that Saints have lost their way on recruitment and that is showing on the pitch and ultimately, after a few years of not really doing very much (a pretty unlikely GF excepting) the club and this forum have taken it's toll.

Wigan, on the other hand, even with many players our are doing it tough and top of the league, without really doing anything out of the ordinary just passion and sticking to the keep on moving forward mantra.

We need to get that back, and instead of signing anyone we can, be more specific in the needs for the team and the needs for the clib as a whole ie bringing players through and sticking with them.

I think even the supporters meetings have ceased or they have stopped inviting me......
