Precisely.

| There's little doubt a hardcore group of Saints fans have done their best to undermine Potter (perhaps even finished him) with at best faulty and worst - downright deceitful reasoning. If that wasn't bad enough they are now gutlessly attempting to airbrush their stinking, cowardly role out of history.
[i"It wasn't me, Guv - honest!"[/i
But we KNOW the names. The same names who bash Flannery. The same names who think Dixon & Ashurst aren't Saints material (expect the same frantic airbrushing in the wake of Dixon's outstanding performances lately) etc. etc.
They'd better HOPE McManus doesn't drop a clanger and hire a disaster (a very real possibility) because the flak will definitely come their way.

Am I on your list of culprits?

He really must of put a lot of thought into that article. Jeez Louise.

you dont think it would be a bad idea to have a coaching team of:
- one bloke who currently works for Carlsberg delivering beer
- a current player with no coaching experience
- a former player with no coaching experience
the only one with coaching experience is currently delivering beer - which probably gives a clue to as to where his coaching talents.
a good player does not necessarily make a good coach (look at Garry Schofield, Paul Cullen, Karl Harrison, James Lowes for examples). in fact, I cant think of any top level player that has made it as a coach in recent times?

| I say it through gritted teeth but Wigan have got the right idea with what they're doing at the moment.
They've got a young, cutting edge Australian who has cut his teeth at one of the most successful clubs Down Under, brought his knowledge of their systems and structures over to implement them within the Wigan club, while appointing ex-players with Wigan in their blood - Wane, Radlinski, Hampson - on the coaching staff. Once Maguire goes home in a couple of years, which Australians inevitably do as proved by Anderson and now Potter, rather than being in the same boat again of looking for a 2-3 year solution of another Aussie coach who will bring new systems, they already have successful structures in place and can promote a new coach from within, who can then, theoretically, continue their success for years to come.
Saints would be absolutely stupid to appoint any of Sculthorpe, Cunningham, Martyn as head coach (as Schofield suggests in his article ) but I'd definitely be in favour of seeing any of them as part of a new look coaching team, fronted by an experienced and successful Aussie coach, overseeing them for anything between 3 and 5 years realistically, before handing the reins over and returning home.

Or you could argue that Wigan hired an assistant coach from an NRL side that has won nothing and that he's brought nothing with him bar some basic, negative tactics. (He suits Wigan though as overspending to basically buy the title is their favourite thing)
