As for Franny - if he is up to fitness then i'd consider him for a 60mins stint - he owes the club a lot so it will be interesting how the next 6-8 weeks go with him.'"
Two things. If he was "up to fitness" he'd be able to play the full 80. Secondly, why would you play a winger for only 60 munutes. You'd have to have a winger/back on the bench and that would significantly impact our forward capabilities. We'd be a prop lite on the bench.
Good to have him back but he doesn' deserve to be near the squad until maybe Hull at home over easter.
He shouldn't just walk into the team. he needs to prove that:
A) He is fit. Mentally and phsyically.
B) Up to date with Potters plans/training stuff etc
C) He deserves it. Armstrong is doing fine, until he plays badly then he stays in the team.

| Get him in from the start. 60 minutes to destroy Ryan Hall, like he did in the Grand Final Score a hatrick get a well earned rest and be replaced for the last 20 by Maurie.

Any player returning from injury or long term absence isn't up to "match fitness" - at the start of a season everyone is the same boat so it doesn't matter but now everyone else is 5 games in he would tire out much quicker. How does any player return from injury without being spelled? Not neccesarily the Leeds game as it is a big one but unless he plays some part of games he'll never get that level of fitness from training alone.
We don't have to have a winger on the bench - if he feels ok after 60 leave him on - if not stick Gilmour there he is still quicker than our wingers as it is.
and just on C) - Tom wasn't in the team against Salford what makes you think he'd be back in this week? Not that i don't agree he has done well enough so far just wonder if Potter hasn't seen enough...and if you drop every player for playing badly once god help them!

Indeed.
Quote: Chris Saint "How does any player return from injury without being spelled? Not neccesarily the Leeds game as it is a big one but unless he plays some part of games he'll never get that level of fitness from training alone. '"
He needs to build his fitness up in training and then be played when he is up to a sufficient level of fitness. For all we know he has done no training at all.
Quote: Chris Saint "We don't have to have a winger on the bench - if he feels ok after 60 leave him on - if not stick Gilmour there he is still quicker than our wingers as it is.'"
Why risk that though, it's just a stupid thing to do. Play a winger who won't be fit for 60 minutes and put a second row on the wing if he gets tired. If that is the case who will go to centre to replace Gilly?
Why take that chance instead of playing somebody who, while maybe a centre, has done nothing wrong so far on the wing and keep everybody else in position instead of playing Meli for 60 minutes and completely re-jigging your team.
Makes no sense.

No i wouldn't drop every player for playing bad. Meli needs to earn his spot, not just waltz back into the wing spot doing nothing and being in the UK for two days. Especially when the situation is entirely his own fault.

| The simple thing is though none of us know what his fitness level is like at the moment so any guessing as to such is purely speculation. I think we have to just have faith that Potter knows the players and the team and will judge what he thinks will be best for the team in each game when selecting who plays.
He isn't going to pick Meli if he isn't convinced he is fit enough for the game.

You should work for the club. You defend everything and sit on the fence so much you must have splinters.
He isn't in the 19 man squad anyway.
