| Quote: McClennan "Completely agree. He's just starting to get into his peak years and I think that's starting to show now. In the past he seemed to make more yards rotating in tackle to etch out the extra bits. Now he looks like he can carry defenders backwards as well which I haven't seen before. Some credit must go to the coaching staff because the way a lot of the forwards have been running the ball in the years has been great e.g. LMS.'"
I'd be shocked if he was allowed to leave. But he has a family to consider and if the likes of Widnes want to offer him megabucks, I wouldn't blame him.

LMS was running the ball with us at London and think how young her was then, so credit also to some coaching for his junior coach in the Capital!

| He has got into some bad habbits like going backwards into the tackle. A technique that is going to get him injured at some point. Hopefully he can be improved by Brown. I hope he does stay, he does have a lot of quality about him, he has just not taken the step up yet.

| I'd hope we could do some kind of deal, for say 3 years. He has been a good squad player, he's maybe reaching an age where props really come into their own. Yes you get World Class props who are outstanding from 21, but most have to bulk out and really get into their grind and skills later on.
If at 28 he's still doing the same as now, then you would probably be looking to replace with younger, but there is not point replacing with younger, just for the sake of doing it.
It's other areas where we need to be making changes not looking at those lower down the star chain.

I don't know what they are on .
He probably deserves a rise, I'd expect him to be on peanuts compared to others, but if his demands are unaffordable then like everyone else it's bye bye.

| I like Clough. He's never going to be a top International player but he has a solid work ethic, makes few mistakes. Every team needs one.
If we didn't have Hansen at Wigan I'd have him in our team.

| I know that there are lies, damned lies and statistics, but looking at our props this season:
Clough - more tackles than Puletua and Perry
more meters made than Laffranchi, Puletua and Perry
higher average meters gained per carry than LMS, Laffranchi, Puletua and Perry
less errors made than LMS, Laffranchi, Puletua and Perry
less penalties conceded than LMS, Laffranchi, Puletua and Perry
less missed tackles than LMS, Laffranchi and Puletua
more carries than Puletua and Perry
You can say that some of these stats are down to him having less game time than the others (less penalties, less errors, etc), but this then also highlights some of the other stats that fly in the face of this (tackles, meters made, etc)

Some on here have acknowledged Clough's impressive contribution for years. The others come across as the sort who would rather have feka breaking one tackle per game than the stats you quote.
Hope the rumours of a new contract are true, very good squad player.

| I've always rated him highly and, although he's never quite fulfilled his promise of 3 or 4 years ago (mainly due to injury I think), Clough is still an important forward in our setup and it's great news if he has re-signed. I reckon he'd make the starting 17 of any team in the league and would be near impossible to replace in the current climate.
