Be careful praising any Wigan player, "Saints Fan" will be asking questions.

So much about this England side remind me of Saints ala 2010, actually. Poor defence, dropping the ball, giving away penalties, no halfbacks, poor kicking game, a handful of players performing well, and one of them subsequently out injured with an ankle sprain ...'"
I know HP was poor at times but surely he was better than that clown McBanana who said after the game
"We dipped our toe in the water on Saturday and as soon as we realised it wasn't as cold as we thought, we managed to find our feet in the second half."
The best comment of the game goes to the BBC match commentator who said when Luke came on "here comes Isaac Luke the rubber faced man"

I disagree, it was a 4 on 3 and Shenton got the read very wrong, in fact he made no read at all and got caught flat footed ball watching. Basic error, having said that the vision was good but the ball was also forward.
He also made the initial miss that caused Goulding to come in, he should have done better on both occasions but his inside defenders also have to put their hand up, most notably Brown.

Mmm, could have done better, although the initail trouble when goulding had to come in seemed rife whenever the ball was going wide. [iTeam[/i defence outwide seems to be one of the biggest problems england has.
Shenton did miss another one on Pritchard later in the game, which was poor, but he made a couple of good calls in defence later on and started to do a bit with the ball.
Reasonably encouraging veiwing for the saints fans though, i'd say, as he does apparently possess the one thing we crave at the moment - pace.

rlNot necessarily.rl It all depends on how bad the ankle sprain is. And he will have access to the kind of facilities us mere mortals don't have when we sprain our ankles!

| Kevin Brown was at fault for the first try imo. Too slow moving across the defensive line which resulted in a overlap. Brown did this a number of times in the game.

| Shenton could do with the rest so disappointing from an England point of view but not disastrous for us.
I echo the sentiment about him being better than Atkins the other day, in fact I would go one step further and say that Shenton's done more in a handful of games at this level than many other more celebrated and decorated players.

| He really impressed me in the 2nd half, and I have never been a huge fan of him in the past. Atkins was a liability IMO.

| I quite like Shenton, but do have a major concern, one that is raised in todays League Weekly by their columnist Danny Lockwood.
Shenton is not a wingers centre. I don't think that Goulding (or Hall last week) got a decent pass.
The same could probably be said of Atkins btw.

Shentons more of a centre than Atkins imo. I see Atkins as similar to Goulding where they were (or are) wingers playing at centre.

I couldnt disagree more. Goulding is nothing like Atkins, they are totally different players. Goulding had never even played on the wing until last season and he has always been an out and out centre. Goulding has always been a good wingers centre and has always been quite a skillful centre in terms of setting up his winger.
On Shenton he does appear to be a greedy player and doesnt even look to pass. His defence is dodgy at times but I think that is down to his positioning more than anything else and he certainly wasnt helped by Brown on his inside. He is still young and and obviously has a lot of potential and he definately has a lot more about him than Atkins.

Depends who has been on his outside at Cas, Gidley was a wingers centre until he started to play with Gardner

I know he never played on the wing until last year but I thought that his flaws as a centre were not passing, but he could finish well. I always thought watchin him since he broke into the side that he looked like a winger playing at centre.
