IN the wake of Brett Finch’s falling out with the Parramatta Eels, it has been argued that every club needs a character like Finch.
“It would be a crying shame if Brett Finch was lost to the NRL. Simply, the guy is the character who’s a little bit country, a little bit rock’n’roll. He speaks his mind.
In an era when sports stars are effectively cardboard cut-outs, he is a breath of fresh air.
Alas, it can be revealed right here that his most likely option beyond this year will be overseas – although don’t be surprised if he plays out the season with the Melbourne Storm.Contrary to the spin that the Eels have been putting out there, he hasn’t received a lucrative offer to play in the UK Super League – yet.
]There has been strong mail that he might join former Dragons coach Nathan Brown at Huddersfield. I spoke to Brown late last night, just as he was walking into a selection meeting, and he said he had not breathed one syllable to Finch or his manager, Steve Gillis. But he added
