Everyone knows it was offside but judging by the Leeds board they are now trying to re-write history in some sort of 1984-inspired brainwashing scenario.

They even have a thread where they claim it's now officially categorised as onside.

Makes no difference now but for them not to admit they got a large slice of luck from that shocking decision is a bit odd.

No it's not it just the usual suspects who post in these forums. apart from the odd couple of dozen fans from each club who actually post here alot 99.99% of fans think these forums are a joke. everyone knows it was a very tight 50/50 call and it went Leeds way. you can't handle that and you frustration is to been seen in your insults!

Take it you wasn't at the match then lad? Every fan around us at the time including a couple of Leeds speccies were amazed the try was given. Fair play to Leeds they deserved the victory but get of your high horse and realise it was a poor decision by Bentham that in the end finsihed the game as a spectacle.

I thought it was off side in the ground. But after watching it again at home a few times and understanding the rules as explained by the ref on the night and the head of the refs I think it was a close 50/50 that went Leeds way and it was a try.

I think it is very telling that Cummings had to write a piece for the rugby league press attempting to convince everyone Bentham was right. Cummings also said he could have understood a penalty try being awarded to Gardner for Webb's illegal tackle, but that wasn't given. I think his need to explain and defend his refs' decisions says more about those decisions than anything else. He clearly knows his refs were on thin ice.

Had it not been for Meli's two brainfarts I would say Leeds were extremely lucky to win on Saturday night. However, as I have acknowledged elsewhere, those two dodgy decisions (against Gardner and for you) were not the reason we lost. Meli was.

But the explanation they gave isn't in the rule book, it doesn't say anything about planted feet and ball position.

What it actually says is that if you're in front of a team mate and he has the ball in his hands then you are offside. You can get put back onside if he gets in front of you or you give the opposing side 10 metres.

Cummins has come out with a load of waffle to cover Bentham's shocking error of judgement. Most folk will take that waffle as gospel.
