No doubting he's been good for us this season, but he lacks the presence and size that Burgess at wigan has, for example.'"
After hall we don't have any wingers of international class. Burgess is not the answer he costs as many points as he scores in the big games, one for the future yes but it's way too soon for him now. Makinson and charnley are at present much better options than burgess.

While size is obviously a bonus, Makinson isn't tiny or skinny. And it's obvious by his one on one tackle on Carney in the play off game that he can stand up to lads bigger than him if he has to.
I'd like to see him have a go because until we see players on the international stage we don't know whether they have got it at that level.
Is Burgess bigger than Makinson? He doesn't look it on the TV anyway.

Burgess is pretty tall from what I've seen and he has a good frame and is still only young so will develop.
As I said Makinson has had a good season for us and I wouldn't swap him at saints.

Size has nothing to do with it. It's about ability that I have Made my choice.
Can Tommy finish as good as Hall, Charnley and Briscoe ? Yes he's certainly a better finisher than Briscoe and up there with Hall and Charnley for short range but different story on long distance.
Can he return the ball as good as Briscoe, Charnley and Hall? I don't think he can. I believe he's way behind them on kick returns.
Does Tommy have a impact on the game like Briscoe, Charnley and Hall? I don't beleive he does.
Is he safe under the ball as the Leeds two and Charnley ? Im not so sure he is lately but in past he's been as good but last 3/4 weeks been little dodgy.
I'm not bagging Tommy one little bit but I'm being honest.

| His size affects his kick returns and his ability to make an impact on the game. It also affects his ability to defend kicks.
I think it's a must for an England winger to have size/presence.

| Hall and Charnley must be certain starters. The third spot is pretty close between Makinson and Burgess IMO. I'm obviously a bit bias but I'd go Burgess. He's been excellent since he came back from injury and is a threat from anywhere on the field. He's also a big lad and that's handy against the Aussies who have very athletic backs who always seem to be able to jump about 15 feet in the air to catch high balls!
What a difference a few years make on the wingers front! From Gardner and Calderwood to us having 4 or 5 good options.

| In my opinion Charnley and Burgess are the most gifted wingers in the league. May be a little too soon for Burgess to claim a starting spot.
would take Hall, Charnley and Burgess.
My back line would be
Hardaker
Charnley
Shenton/Reed
Watkins
Hall
Tomkins
Widdop

| Hall Charnley and Makinson this time round.
Burgess has massive potential but lacks the experience having played just over 20 games for Wigan and being in his first senior season.
Tom Briscoe is big and strong but he just does not score enough trys for my mind, and ultimately that's what a wingers job is to do. Wello has scored more trys than him this season.
With regard to Makinson there is also the added bonus he can cover fullback.
However on that basis we may find only two wingers being selected with Hardaker coming in as backup fullback and backup wing.

| Makinson, Charnley & Burgess.
Hall and the rest of the Leeds players are so out of form it's untrue. Lost their last 6 League games. Wouldn't pick Hall nor anyone else from Leeds. Form players have to be picked for Internationals.
My Back Line,
Tomkins, Charnley, Bridge, Shenton, Makinson,
Widdop, Smith.

Never buy in to the theory that you should pick an international side on form alone. Big players stand up when it matters most and Hall has done that time and again for England. He's the biggest certainty in the team for me.
Talking of form somebody like Shenton shouldn't be in. He like Cas has tailed off at the back end of the season. I'm not convinced he's good enough anyway and he'd be behind Watkins, Bridge and Hardaker (a lad I'd pick in the centres) in my selection.
