To be fair, they also "signed" Whitehead. It appears as though the docs cash is being used as a stalking horse by players and agents looking for better deals.

I think clearly their wages have increased, but the squad sizes haven't, so a player who was surplus 3 years ago will still be surplus today. If they increased the size of the NRL, it would be much more of a threat than simply playing the current squads more. The chickin lickin brigade will always find something to worry about though.

Wigan did pay fees for Green and Taylor, but they used the money they received from Joel Tomkins move to Saracens, and I suspect they will do something similar with the money they get for Hock, Mossop and Sam.
