I found that funnier than I should have.
I must admit, I'm inclined to agree. He strikes me as something of a plastic Stalin.
If I was a high profile star or a promising youngster I would need some serious persuading to join Salford. Aside from the issue that I'd be joining a club at the bottom of the league with sub 3k attendances, I'd be concerned at the prospect of getting sacked if my performances were not instantly up to the evidently unrealistic standards expected by someone with no background in the game. I'd also be wary of the possibility of said someone jumping ship when Salford don't go from 14th to 1st in one season, and leaving me stuck at a club that can't afford to pay my wages.
I can't see Salford making any sustainable progress unless he chills out and accepts that it's going to take a few years before Salford are steadily competitive, never mind a top 4 side.

That sacking was perfectly justified. He had a much better squad on paper in his previous season but he still couldn't get wins. He was supposed to be the defensive coach and yet Salford couldn't defend under him.

Don't talk stupid!
Do you know that Vievers couldn't do a pre season as he had no players, they even had to call a pre-season friendly off because they didnt have 17 players.
While all the on field problems of trying to get a squad together to even have a team, they also wasnt getting paid! Yes that's right, the players, coaches and other staff wasnt getting paid!
The players was looking for other clubs to join.
Yes the sacking was justified! (Not)

| I felt a bit sorry for Veivers, it seemed harsh to get rid of him after only 5 games - especially since he stuck with us through all the financial problems, and the Shaun McRae/Matt Parrish lark. Maybe he could've done better though when we had the likes of Holdsworth, Patten and Smith. And losing 38-4 at home to London He was probably gonna go anyway at the end of this season too, along with maybe a mass change of players. Why wait 'til then to replace him if you can get the replacement you want in much earlier.
This season was always going to be a write-off. I'm saving any proper judgement of Koukash and Noble until well into next season.

| I think Koukash will turn out to be the SL equivalent of Venkys. All mouth, no trousers and very little experience within the arena he now finds himself in.

If you mean Venky's at Blackburn FC then quite the opposite is true, not least because Dr Koukash is not living a world away and he is very hands-on.
Dr Koukash,it transpires,is personal friends with Chalmers and Graham Lowe in New Zealand as well as with your owner McManus.
The sacking of Veivers was,in my opinion, wrong,as it was for his friend Noble to jump into his shoes, but after last night my one worry is,for stability and continuity purposes,if the shelf life of a head coach is 5 yrs at a club ( John Kear ) will the 2 relatively inexperienced assistant coaches take over down the line ?
Dr Koukash believes Veivers would not have attracted big-name signings to the club - despite his friendship with Meninga and being the brother-in-law of Wayne Bennett.
It is a little harsh to judge him on his signings as he had 'no money' due to the fact the club was hurtling towards oblivion. The quality players he had were already aboard the lifeboats queueing alongside the SS Salford.

Phil Vievers sacking was justified in that the results at the back end of last season were terrible (when Salford actually had a decent 17) they got worse this season and he made three of the worst overseas signings in the history of Super League in Ryan McGoldrick, Vic Mauro and Liam Foran.
Those doubting Koukash will be left with egg on their faces come next season. An announcement is to be made on August 9th regarding new signings for next season when it is expected Koukash is to confirm at least 6 new signings (including a couple from St Helens).

| Veivers's squad got decimated, though. He had a good attacking game because of the way Smith, Holdsworth and Patten linked, but they lost all of those AND Joel Moon.

Bar Smith, only at the end of the season though. He had a lot of 2012 season with all those players still in the side but they still managed to consistently lose. And remember, Vievers said he was the defensive coach at Salford while Longy was the attacking coach. Salford's attack was wonderful at times, really quite breathtaking, while their defence was persistently and consistently poor. Their defence only really improved under Hunte and even then it was still prone to shakiness. Koukash's best option - although I can understand why he didn't do it - would have been to keep Hunte as head coach for this season while allowing Nobby to view his charges ready for next season. That way Salford would have retained some consistency and stability, and might have seen some better results as a consequence.

Hohaia and Laffranchi are way, way better than McGoldrick, Foran and especially Mauro who is more of a pudding than Perry.

| I started this thread to show some solidarity with species of another club feeling shortchanged. It is good to see the quality of input from fans of the red devils and I hope it works out for you. I think the next three years is s**t or bust though for the club.
