| Fair play. He had a good game.
It shouldn't be forgot that Lomax was getting plenty of stick on here recently. He's proving his critics wide of the mark.

I wasn't one of them giving stick but for those who were, it was as a number 7 and the stick was more about him not being suited to that position. Turns out those people were right, wouldn't you say? The lad is like a person reborn at fullback.

| Like everone else I thought he was excellent.
Getting out of the goal area without touching down and the tackle on Reilly were the outstanding parts of his game tonight for me.
My only reservation as such is can he take being whacked every week without injury?

47035_1386433761.gif We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47035.gif |

| Lomax was not getting stick, just as Lance was not getting stick.
The only comments about them was that they were not half's and we where a club that was FB heavy.
We still are, but Brown is making the best of what he has. He's tried nearly every possible halfback we have and for sure Wilkin is now a shoe in at 7. He may not be a 7, but by god, he has brought us organisation and temperament.
I particularly liked his end of match interview. The SKY spin started with you are looking alot happier this week. Erm no, SKY just don't listen, last week he was happy with the way we where build and felt we where getting there.

I agree. Lomax has both a very good offensive AND defensive game. Whereas Tomkins has his flaws defensively.
I'd say lomax has to be number 2 to Tomkins atm.
Not seen much of hardaker this season, is he injured? I think he kind of rode the wave a little last season. Maybe that's a tad unfair.

| A bit of justification for those of us who've been banging on for years about how his position needs to be at #1 (or #4) and as far away from #7 as possible. Can we now officially just stop wasting his and everyone else's time by trying to make a scrumhalf out of him please Mr. Brown?

| If Lomax keeps up both sides of his game, he's got potential to be a better fullback than Tomkins, who isn't the best defensively. His defence was outstanding last night, always in the right position and some great one-on-one tackles.

He is staying there and wello will be loose forward. I'm happy lomax is staying fullback, I like the way he joins the line outwide acting as a extra halfback.
I'm not sure on wello playing loose forward. It seems we are just trying to fit wello in the team.

It'll be interesting to see how well suited he is to it. He certainly isn't going to be a powerhouse LF, but with Wilkin in the halves it might not be so bad to have someone with decent hands in the back row.

I think our backrow of sia, Manu and flanaghan is pretty impressive but would wello spoil that ?
I've said all along, if he's not fullback he shouldn't play.

I think you're probably right, but I'm happy to see it tried out for a few weeks.

I'd keep flanaghan at loose, he deserves a extended run as a starting player. One thing for sure with Flash, he's a tough hard worker.
I think this is the first movement in the end of wello saints career

| Playing Wello at loose i feel will strengthen our pack.
I dont expect him to be a blockbusting hard yards maker.
What i do think he will do is take some of the responsibility off Wilkin, specifically in the passing department when the side are running moves close to the opposition line. This should actually improve our speed and range of pass options, which are currently limited due to Wilkins deficiencies in that area.
Wilkin will be left as 1st choice kicker and a midfield tackler.
Wello is also an excellent reader of the game and as a consequence is an excellent support player. I would therefore use him running off the shoulder of our forwards and supporting midfield breaks, similar to how he was used last year by Rush. He could be very useful if the side get a role on out of dummy half linking up with Roby or someone like Soliola.
Tackling shouldnt be an issue as he has always been strong defensively.
Another area he offers for us offensively is in pressuring the opposition fullback on bombs.
Finally playing Wello in the pack allows our bench to be strengthened. The quality of the bench is usually what defines the top teams, and often is the difference in the hard fought battles.
Putting Wello at loose would allow us to have a bench of: Lafranchi, Puletua, Flanagan, Clough or variations on that theme eg LMS, Soliola, Jones, Lafranchi.

| I might get shot down here but in my opinion I think Lomax will be a far better fullback in time than Tomkins at Wigan. He is safer under the ball and he seems to have a better reading of the game.

He already looks a more rounded/ natural fullback, if not as devastating in attack.
Tomkins is terrifying with ball in hand, but is a bit of a Meli when kicks come his way.
Time will tell as sides will look for weaknesses to exploit, just as they did with Tomkins.
