I think the question is if your team has to lose, would you rather be a loser in the final or not even get there.
Of course we all want to win the big prize and our record at being the champions is as good as anyone. In effect there can only be one winner and so by that measure everyone else is a loser.
Losing in the GF just makes you the best placed loser. It would be far worse to not even be in the running as far as I'm concerned, and when you look at the life cycle of a sporting team, if on your years of no trophies you are still making finals, then that's a pretty good cycle.
We've challenged the top of the league for a good number of years now, sometimes we've been on top, othertimes we've been bridesmaids, but when you consider during that period other sets of fans have had to cope with relegation threats, going bust, years of being the under achievers and struggling even to make the playoffs. It shows how fortunate Saints fans have been that even in the lean times of SL we have been competing at the top end of the competition.
