Than Danny Brough for one. For Hudds to beat us by only a drop goal (compliment to us: Brough sensed danger) with the amount of ball we dropped and with two young halves and minus our regular hooker is not a disaster. Our halves haven't yet had a full season in their respective positions! This is going to happen with them in the halves. They are still learning.

Lomax is a great player. But I don't know how much more proof Saints fans need to understand he's playing in the wrong place. When Roby went down Jonny should have gone to nine. Hohaia to scrum half.'"
I kinda agree with what your saying and I also have my doubts if he's a scrum half. He's a very good player but I'm not sure what his best postion is.
The problem with having two young halves, is what happened today, they lack experince and leadership due to there young age.
We should have replaced eastmond with a good quality halfback and not a fullback we trying to convert in to a halfback.
We 100% lack leadership in the halves.

Gaskell is natural stand off tho and IMO needs a good experinced scrum half with him.

| If we are all for rotation will it be Lomax and Gaskells turn this week? Surely trying Wheeler and Hohaia there can't be any worse!

The rotation IMO is killing us!

| You never get a settled team by rotating players.

I can't understand why. He's quick off the mark. He's a workaholic going forward and backward and his front-on defence is excellent. His footwork makes him a nightmare for ANY tiring forward defending around the ruck area and his physique means he's easily capable of standing up to the kind of heavy traffic you find ten yards either side of the centre spot. The kid is an obvious a hooker as you'll find.
I think many Saints fans see Roby at nine and think the position is done and dusted. But I really don't see why. It's perfectly possible to accommodate both. Indeed, I think we would be far harder to defend against with two hooking options - perhaps switching Roby to thirteen when Lomax is on.
Let Hohaia - a far more experienced player - slot into seven where he can give Gaskell or Wheeler plenty of help.

| I agree that it is killing us along with the back on the bench. But if Simmons is going to insist on carrying on with it surely we should get to see Wheeler and Hohaia as half backs.

I just can't work his methods out and I don't think the players can either.
I never ever thought I'd say this but "bring back potter"
Simmons is worst coach I've seen take charge of saints.

And where would we have been today without a back on the bench?

a good, reasoned post, it definitely worth a shot

| Well, at this rate the benefits of rotation seem dubious as there might not be any playoffs to compete in.
