Disgusting from the ref to play on with a player down in the middle of the field with what was obviously a very serious injury. To make it even more farcical when we got the ball back he waited for him to leave the field before he'd play on.

I've never seen that before in league. Serious injuries have always stopped the game.

This has been creeping into the game for a few years now. It happened last season against Wigan (I think).

Although he came back from the injury it took KC about 18 months to get back to the top of his game but Shenton plays a less physical position so he might not feel the impact as much.

The rule is that play should stop when the doctor is required to attend to a player on the field. In the heat of the game, did the ref realise the doctor was on? When play stopped for the scrum, he would have been able to see the doctor was present and the game was stopped.
