I'm not knocking Lockers, but it depends what type of 13 you want really. A ball handling loose like him and Sinfield or a battering ram type loose. Its hard to compare him to someone who plays the same position but is made do it differently.

Agreed. Paul Gallen and Lockers are perfect examples of this.

The only world class British player at the moment in super league for me is Roby. Locker is just a very good club player, if you place Lockers against Sculthorpe then Lockers is definitely not world class.

| Scully IMO is the only true world class player this country has produced for many many years.

| From the last 10 years or so, a few more names I'd say were World Class:
Carney
Peacock
Morley
Gleeson

| Surprised no one has mentioned cunningham. For a while he was definitely best number nine on the world, regardless of whether he played for gb or not

| Cunningham would be up there ahead of Sculthorpe for me.
Cunningham wasnt only the best 9 in the world in his prime he was one of the best players full stop.

Id agree with this, for me Roby, tomkins and Graham are all world class...as is Thomas Leuluai imo. He seems to be the man that really makes Wigan tick and they seem to dip in form when he is spelled at 9 (Wire CCQF, Leeds in final) and has been a great performer for NZ up against Cameron smith (the best 9 on the planet)
As for O'Loughlin, good solid club player but not world class imo. Wouldnt get into most NRL teams or into Australia/NZ squad like the above 4 would

| Tommy martyn? For me had the talent to be considered truly world class but does his injuries ( thus time spent not playing) prevent him from being considered??

Stick him in the SOO or an Oz vs NZ game and he'd probably go about his business just the same as if it were Wigan vs Bradford.

That for me means he is very good not world class. He can hold his own and not be out of his depth but is still the next level down from being world class

He's no Sculthorpe, but its an admirable quality. One that not many can boast.

| Here is the current England elite squad for 4 nations. Each player is rated as follows:
wc- world class.
Pwc- potential world class
Vg- very good
Good
Ave - average
Poor
Thoughts??
Ryan Atkins - good
Chris bridge - good
Tom Briscoe - vg
Danny Brough - good
Garreth Carvell - good
Eorl Crabtree - vg
Leroy Cudjoe - vg
Brett Ferres - vg
James Graham - wc
Ryan Hall - good
Ben Harrison - good
Ben Jones-Bishop - good -
Jamie Jones-Buchanan - good
Jonny Lomax - good (pwc)
Danny mc guire - good
Michael McIlorum - ave / good
Adrian Morley - vg ( ex wc)
Richie Myler - vg ( pwc)
Sean O’Loughlin - vg
Jamie Peacock - vg
Paul Prescott - good
Leon Pryce - vg
Luke Robinson - good
James Roby - wc
Michael Shenton - good
Kevin Sinfield - good
Joel Tomkins - good / vg
Sam Tomkins - pwc
Kris wellam - good
Ben Westwood - vg
Jon Wilkin - vg
Kirk Yeaman - good
Roby and Graham are wc as they are / have been at a consistent enough level over a period of time and continue to improve.
Sam Tompkins is pwc because he is better than a very good player but is only in his second full year. I think he will improve year on year and will be truly world class in 12 months time
Also Sam burgess IMO should be classed as per tompkins.
Gareth widdop could also be classed as good / vg now and pwc if he keeps developing but not seen enough to give a more accurate assessment.
