39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

It was pretty hard to get an atmosphere going, there were lots of people stood around us who got in early and didn't want to sing. The wire away league game will be better.
Anything improving the atmosphere on game day and making it more colourful cannot be pathetic. Our players love it, I'm sure yours would if you set up something similar. The RFL, Sky and BBC seem to like it as well.

I didn't hear anything up until the carmont try?
Then from 40-60 mins a few premature Wembley chants, before absolute silence up until the hooter.
I have spoken to quite a few wiganers since the game and we all agreed Saints fans were definitely the loudest yesterday but then again, we were underdogs so should be more vocal.
You can not deny though that 'you only sing when your winning' definitely applies to 'your lot'

| Yesterday that mentality was in play. I suppose when you become a poor team with nothing to lose you tend to sing your hearts out

| By the way, even though I thought you were great yesterday why were you singing:
1) Swing low sweet chariot
2) Just can't get enough ( Robbed off us )

We do that when penalties are kicked instead of going for a try. We did it to Pat Richards and we did it to Jamie Foster.

We didn't rob it off you. We have our own words. It's just that not many fans know them all yet so most only get involved for the der der bits.
Oh and we easily outsung Wigan yesterday. I thought us Saints fans were fab. I stayed behind to clap the players as I thought they more than deserved it.

1. You went for goal, ala Union, we do that to most teams, seemed to start at, of all places, the 2006 final which was Twickenham.
2. Not really, we've been more imaginitive than you lot with that ( ), by making the second line "all the tries you score, in the vee that is red", or similar to that if its wrong

| Okay never knew that, quite funny IMO.
And we brought Just Can't get enough into RL, we can't have the two biggest rivals singing it! And i don't know, where i was it was bouncing, where you were probably the same. Fair play to the Saints fans who tried to stay as long as us. We were there for a good 30 minutes after FT! haha

| Have to say that i could hear the wigan fans more going by the tv. When you were at KR there used to be a massive roar when
you got behind your side in the long standing end, always for me the loudest of any away games i went to. Will you have a
standing area next year? If so then you can definitely get it back again. In a funny sort of way, you not being as successful
at this time compared to normal will create a hunger within the fans. As a wire fan I know this as our atmosphere isn't as
good anymore unless were playing you or pies.

| It is weird, that when we weren't as good, yes the fans got behind the team, but it wasn't a great atmosphere. Now we're top dogs again the atmosphere is brilliant, by far the best in the league (Except at the DW )

| I think your resurgence in atmosphere started last season as your fans seemed to be more vocal even before you had any success. Perhaps a new optimism.

| Yeah, we always have been good, but when Noble left, we had a new belief, but the Ultras have brought something good and new to the support. I love it.

I agree; those goons doing really get on my t*ts - which is probably what is intended.
I'm also guessing it also gets on some of their own supporters t*ts which is probably not what was intended although the morons who do it probably don't care.
Unfortunately the BBC (yesterday) and Sky (when we got hammered by them at widnes) gave them the oxygen of publicity.
I just hope we don't follow them down that particular track which appeals to the yob in all of us.

I think the general consensus from redvee is that they're just hoping to set up an organised singing group rather than an ultra scene. It just makes people feel part of something and will no doubt increase the number of singers!
Although it can be very effective, the ultra scene runs the risk of getting out of hand. Also, I don't think it suits a 'family game'. However, Wigan seemed to have steered away from the ultra side of things and concentrated more on the singing side with the rebranding of the 'brigantes'. Its a more friendly brand and I think encourages more people (of all ages) to get involved.
Well played I say

| Ultras (i'm guessing) refers to the flag side of things and not the violent side of things seen in italy. I think it brightens up
the stands and shows the commitment of the fans.
The ultra fans associated with football are full of vile hate. Would be interesting to see however, if they were as hard with no hoodies on
and no knives and play a proper game.
