It's quality coaching and defense. A lot of it is borderline but if the ref allows it then there is no need to stop. I just wonder why Saints don't try it.

Fair enough, it's just when you said Quote: Saddened! "The gang tackling and laying on is ridiculous. They can take as long as they like and he would rather read a book than penalise them.'" I thought you was having a a massive whinge.

I was. It's not nice watching your side being tactically destroyed. I think the ref should have been stronger but I don't blame Wigan for the tactics.

| I don't like the rule of extra time at the ruck when more men are involved in the tackle, but I don't understand why we don't do it ourselves if that's the way the rules are currently enforced. The speed of the ruck wins games at the end of the day, control it and you're on the front foot. It's ugly to watch but it works.

| It was not so much he goons gang tackling and laying on, it was the goons moving up quickly in our faces for best part of an hour which limited our momentum to around 4 metres per play. We were soft and loose in the tackle and allowed them to make 10 metres per play. Coley had a field day making ground.
Once again we let the opposition get the upper hand at the start of the game and play catch up football, no excuses with injuries, our executions and plays were poor.

Because we arent as fit as a freak Wigan side.
We get battered in the tackle and we dont have the energy to do it back, see our "go forward" through that game compared to the Wigan side. Maybe it is a mentality too?

But you see this is rubbish. We did it at the Magic weekend; we did it at the DW.
It's got nothing to do with our tackling style versus theirs. It's got everything to do with our lack of desire versus their utter determination. But even when that ran out, in the second half, we had lots of try scoring chances that we bombed through our inability to keep hold of the bloody ball. That is what is so galling. Losing at the DW hurt like hell but man did we fight! We never gave up! Tonight was just annoying and embarrassing and I refused to even acknowledge the players I was so mad at their bad attitude.

Didn't you watch the game? Saints do and did use the same tacking techniques as Wigan, the difference was really down to the ease with which Wigan made yards, completed sets and completed sets well.

I tend to agree, I thought Graham started to lose it very early and Wellens is a shadow of his former self. With the Wigan pack making sure that Wilkinson was targeted and Roby not getting a look in the core of the team were disrupted too much and Saints never got the chance to fight back.

You're spot on except it's Wilkin ( ). We were hammered by Wigan's pack, this along with the slow PTB's which were forced on us meant Roby couldn't get going. This in turn meant that Gaskell and Lomax hardly touched the ball.

| You'd have been forgiven for thinking Roby hadn't been picked. Whether it was our tactics or your mistakes which disrupted his involvement, I think it has to be a major factor in the end result.
