| Even harder? That's impossible, things could not have got even harder than they already are. I don't think it would affect the score much if they just decided to end the pitch at the half way line and play it entirely in our half, their half will be redundant apart from fielding kick offs.
I was once invited to an RU game (yes I know, but the booze was free) on a corprate jolly to see the North of England play the All Blacks. By half time they were out of sight and the snow started falling so the second half started with a pure white pitch. By the end of the game the pitch was still covered in totally virgin snow from 10 metres inside the All Black half all the way to their dead ball line. I know it's unlikely to snow in Melbourne but I think the same thing would happen if it did.

| Quote: Blobbynator "This is just typical Australia - its gamesmanship to get the referee on their side. Have a pop at some of our tactics, make out that they're innocent and the referee will look out for it. Watch us get heavily penalised now making things even harder for us.'"
They have far better backs etc than we have out there in Aus. but our forwards are more than a match for them. If they can get our forward pack penalised then they can get their backs going and the points for them rolling in. If however our forwards had a field day so to speak then it will make it harder for the Aussies to operate like they want to. The solution for them is to whinge at the ref and get him on their side.

They aren't.
They may be able to front up for 50 minutes a game, but they can't for 80. You could see our pack struggling with the Kiwi pack last week when they decided to step it up for 10 minutes in each half.
Only players who play for Saints, Leeds and Wigan can play with that intensity for any length of time due to the number of high pressure matches they've played in during the play offs, and it shows.

I totally agree. Yes our pack can start off well and dominate for spells but they always lose out over the course of 80 mins against Australia because they run out of steam. Exactly the same happened last year in the 4 Nations final.
By the way I think Graham has been immense in the last 2 games and has easily been our best player so far.

so ben westwood, wasnt having a blinder whenever he was on the field today?? give me a break! there were no leeds players, anywhere near the starting line-up today, and it was a terrible side, so that to me says how good they are.

Best players on the field, again, today were Beeny Benny Westwood (WAR), Graham(STs) and Roby (STs).
If I was to pick a worst player it's probably be ... S. Tomkins (WIG). But that was probably the intention of the Aussies.
Back to the point both Bennies (WAR) and the St Helens two (Sts) were great. So I'd argue Saint Helens and Warrington have the big performers.

In all fairness, Tomkins was targeted which is why he was quiet. Worst player surely has to go to cudjoe? Although it may have not been his own fault, i don't know how comfortable he is playing centre but his position and decisions were poor. He didn't really offer anything in attack.

| Now I know why they wanted Aussiee officials today!!!
After two blatant Aussie no tries actually being given by that total rectum Clark, Tasmin Archer then disallows lunt's effort on a ref's call, he then started giving us meaningless penalties in our own half after the 70 min mark, (when they are as useful as a chocolate teapot) to make the pen count look even.
Sheen's comments take the biscuit arguing that Archer was allowing US to lie on!

Yeah i thought of him like a min later. He had probably no positive effect on the game.

| This isnt a knee jerk reaction but I saw these performances coming way before the Four Nations started. The coaching of the England National side is very poor led by a very poor Head Coach in Steve McNamara. I can not for the life of me think why the RFL would appoint a Head Coach that has won NO major trophies and has sent the Bradford Bulls backwards since the day he was appointed as there Coach.
The Squad he chose wasnt right in the first place. Why on earth wasnt Martin Gleeson on that plane??? He played out of his skin the last few weeks of the season and was overlooked why???? Our last tackle kicks where nothing short of dreadful, We very rarely openend up and played some attacking expansive Rugby. Defensively we where shocking and the amount of errors we made I wouldnt expect of a Under 8's side.
Unfortunatley Steve McNamara wont be sacked after one tour down under but if this is repeated next year he has to go. 9 times out of 10 we are poor when we play in Australia/New Zealand Down Under but this is taking it to a new level.
Some of the lads where saying to me losing Adrian Morley and Jamie Peacock is devasting. To which I do agree but in 2 or 3 years time at the very most they wont be around to play for England. Our only World Class front row forwards after Morley and Peacock are James Graham and Sam Burgess after that the chioce is quite frankly shocking with the possible exception of Fielden who was average at best the last couple of weeks.
The backs with the exception of Sam Tomkins are again woeful. Kyle Eastmond will be back in the squad next winter injuries permitting but from 1-5 we have genuinely no World Class talent available. We will always struggle to beat Australia and the Kiwis until we get a Head Coach who is hugely experienced, a coaching staff who know how to coach defensively and offensively. Why dont we get ex players like Paul Sculthorpe involved with the National Team????
All the RFL did this year was send a very poor coach and a hugely inexperienced squad down under and expected them to win the Tournament. It was never going to happen in a million years.

I think one comment answers another if you're talking about England, unless you think a Leeds side that got within a game of the GF and to a Challenge Cup final was terrible, in which case I'd question your intelligence. Leeds players are used to playing in higher intensity games on a more regular basis, in a few years I think we'll be adding Warrington and Huddersfield players to that list if things continue as they are doing.
Ben Westwood is an average workhorse who tends to make mistakes when the pressure is on. He has taken that to International level, which is more than some supposed better players do, but he's still limited as a player. He did have a decent game though, as he has done in almost all his International caps. I think Joel Tomkins, for example, found the step up a big one.
All in all, lets also not forget that this was a second string selection. Peacock and Morley make this pack far better, Eastmond, Shenton, Pryce, McGuire and even Sinfield at 6 make the back line look far better. If we'd gone into a game against the Aussies 10 years ago with 6 or 7 first choice team members missing we'd have been a lot worse off than a few dodgy refereeing decisions.

why would Paul Sculthorpe be a better choice as coach than Steve McNamara?

That is not what the poster said. He said 'Why don't we get players like Scully INVOLVED with the National Team' not be the International Coach.
