In reply to your comment Gilly. the ruling states that if the defending player puts his harm in between the ball carrying arm and the players body it is his obligation to take it out again. Neither of the Leeds players attempted to pull away from the man. Therefore Tomkins did not commit an offence..

Ive just said same thing on the pies forum.

how naive you are mate , for as soon as the tackler tries to remove his arm short ar*e will let the ball lose and win the penalty just the same ! CHEATS are very good at that old lad.

There the rules though, cant go breaking the rules now else it would be deemed cheating...

IMO playing to the rules is not cheating though, not in the spirit of the game, but very clever by Sam

| Sam Tomkins does very little wrong and is quite smart by getting into those situations.
Moving your arm wont make the ball come free at all, yes he might let go into which it should be a knock on for a loose carry.

| Both Tomkins brothers are horrible cheap shot merchants - which is a real shame cos they are two of the stand out youngsters in the country in terms of ability.

| Joel Tomkins performances droped after round 15 IMO. He was rubbish last night and gives away to many cheap penalties. Tony Puletua as been more consistent and looks twice the player when on form. Shocking dream team selection from the people with the White sticks!

It was definately stupid and probably deserves something, only thing that has saved him is the fact minimal contact was made. Ultimately this cost us the game and I'd start him from the bench on Friday.

| I find it funny that because eddy decides to get on his soap box about something then fans latch onto it like it's the most heinous crime.
If a player is holding the ball it's their responsibility to hold onto it - if a defender has his arms in and around the ball they can easily dislodge it when breaking from the tackle. All Sam is doing is holding tightly onto the ball to stop it being dislodged- what the f*ck is wrong with that.
It;'s the defenders responsibility to get away from the tackle - not the ball carriers to make it easy for them.
If sam started to 'conveniently' lose the ball when in a two man tackle eddie would probably say he is playing for a penalty bu not holding onto it tightly enough.
Some people don't seem to be able to think for themselves and have to be told what to be outraged at.
The only blatant cheating which DID change the outcome of the game was carried out by a leeds player in the last 20 seconds which basically stopped a match winning score - but I guess thats not as good as whinging about a player you dislike because eddie has a bee in his bonnet about him.........

You clearly are the most biased Wigan fan ever! Of course tomkins knows what he's doing! And it was never going to be a match winning score. McGuire would have caught carmont anyway considering he is twice as fast. It was no different to the type of foul that happens every game. Leeds were penalised and rightly so but that's all it was. Wigan were lucky they got the penalty in in Leeds half!

| On the tomkins issue, I don't see a problem with what he's doing. If he can get away with it then I don't blame him and would say it's clever play. It's the refs job to spot it and enforce the rules.
