| Over-rated, which is what i said a few months ago when he was originally 'linked'.
Definitely not worth the figures branded about in relation to his salary.
Hope he has an awesome time in the Redvee and plays brilliantly, but i'd have preferred us to sign Chris Bridge or Tom Briscoe.

| It's hard to judge him on that one game. Maybe it all got to him, his last game for his home town club, playing against his team to be, the last league game at saints etc.
Maybe it just got to him.
After all, he played very well most times I've seen him, he was very good for England in 4 nations before getting injured.

| Shenton was a class above Gidley tonight. Gidley is past his sell by date by a good season or 2. I thought Shenton looked very classy at times last night and i'm over the moon we've signed him.

| He didn't really look anything special at the game last night. He appears a bit too light, might benefit from another 5kg of muscle. Think we need to give him half a season to settle in proper, so I,m not expecting anything spectacular from him for the first couple of games in the 2011 season.
He will develop into a better player at Saints, think the fans should give him a bit of time to reach his potential.

| I thought he played well. He defended strongly, took his try well and showed exceptional pace.

Gidley hasn't had a good season and I think it's interesting that Gardner has improved considerably since Meli started playing as his centre. However, Gidley came alive in the last few minutes of the match last night. I don't know what happened to him but all of a sudden he looked like the Gidley we once all knew and loved!

Shenton had his moments. I'm sure it was a very mixed game for him last night and he will have been aware that the fans would have been watching him: not a prospect I would relish at Knowsley Road!

I agree on what you've wrote about shenton and posted the same thing today.
I think he might have been caught up in it all. It was maybe his last game for the club, he was playing the team he'll be playing for next season and knew he'd be watched on everything he did and also it was a big day in the first place for obvious reasons.
Im sure he will be great signing for us. He took his try well and took a stud in the face as scoring it but was straight back on his feet, unlike few brittle players we have that would have been rolling around the floor in agony.

| I have a funny feeling that all you critics of Shenton will be eating your words this time next season. He'll thrive with you lot.

I agree mate.
Ive always liked shenton from watching him the year cas was playing in the NL and got promoted.
Cas had some great young players that year in westerman, dixon, shenton, wainright and kept faith in them the following year in super league.
Ive always watched shenton and the young lads at cas to see how they got on at super league level, shenton has got better and better every year.
It's a shame cas have lost a young player they shown alot of faith in but i can see why he's left for saints and will be great player for us.

| People have moaned for years saying that we have no pace in the back-line, we sign a player who uses pace as his primary weapon and people still moan. It seems that people are happier with 'bargers' for some reason these days.

| Looks like he will be good for us, not sure he fits well into the way Cas play, at least not tonight. Get him on the end of a rangy Eastmond, Pryce link-up he'll score bags.

| I'm pretty convinced he'll go well for us. He's quick, has good feet and defends well. It's probably fair to say that he's played better this season than he did last night, but I'm excited to see him in the vee.
